I was actually hoping for a section on orchids and tropical flowers, but then I remembered that's why we left gw ... lol but who knew at the time that I would prefer this format and system much more, and never care to go back to gw, even for flowers, so it's understandable to want such a topic here.

best edit to add a vanilla orchid with vanilla bean.  technically, a bean is a fruit.   ...thus, not off topic.   ...just barely.

I bought some phal orchids without flowers last year at very reasonable price, patiently waiting for them to get in better shape. Alas a new orchid was infested with mealybugs and now I am fighting it on half of my phals with horticultural soap solution. They successfully destroyed the flowerbuds on one phal already    If all fails I'll have to repot them completely and hope for the best.
