Early, mid, late season Mangoes all blooming and set now
« on: January 08, 2017, 04:49:56 PM »
Hello,

So I planted these 3 decant sized trees last summer. I thought I was getting 3 different seasons of mangoes to have mangoes all summer. Is this normal for they all to be blooming and starting to set fruit?
Carrie early
Southern Blush mid
Kent late

Yes, normal. The fruit will likely mature at different times, although Kent might overlap with southern blush some.

You mean early season or early for its normal fruiting time?

All ripen early season, no.  Assuming they fruit that has set develops,  it should ripen during it's normal season.  There are cases where certain climatic conditions can cause a variance from its normal season but that would not be due to them all floweri g and showing an initial set now.

Rob,

Is this normal for all three of these varieties to be blooming and setting this early in the year?

Yes, as staed above, normal.  You could alao get additional blooms although the trees are still on the young side.  In a normal season, blooms can normally occur from December through March on most varieties with mulrie bloom times possible.  There are some varieties that will bloom earlier and the weather can affect bloom times and extend them into April.
