I have a large plant of a Rollinia species, probably sylvatica, grafted onto Annona montana.  When the scion is fully leaved out in the late spring or early summer, I cut down the vigorous rootstock suckers, then allow new suckers to re-grow, so that there are many healthy large leaves of the rootstock to keep the tropical roots fed over the winter months, when the temperate zone scion is bare.

Interesting stratagem ... I suppose not all suckers are bad.

Thanks for sharing!

Dust off this old post with a quick update.

Soursop (A. Muricata)  on cherimoya  (A. Cherimola), still growing nicely.

A. Senegalensis on A. Cherimola,  this is the first year it fruited. The mother plant has fruited in the past but this is the first time on Cherimola.

I working on another graft, hopefully I can report back in a few weeks!

Nice 1 Ethan! I'm sure you've got other impressive fruit happening 's in the "lab" as well.
Has anyone fruited A. Dioica grafted on Cherimoya? I had a big one in a 25 G but gave it away and lost track of her.
Speaking of which, Your 6 ft Madruno ended up at my house and is looking great by the way!

Thank you B2B, it is fun and some times surprising to experimenting with different grafts.

Good luck with the madrono, it was a good grower!
