young just bought tree's
« on: January 07, 2013, 12:59:48 AM »
Tree's that are bought here mostly have been in the shade all day in the shops.

Should i let them get used to the sun by keeping them in the half shade for a while or just plant them in full sun next day after purchase?

I get different advises here so i don't know what to do.

depends on the species, and size/age of the tree!

to be safe, treat all of them like they are sensitive, until they prove to be otherwise.

Well i have grafted muricata and pomelo red siam from a shop that was very dark inside.

They are both about 1 metre (3 foot) high and the muricata has a flower which dropped the outer leaves allready.

I keep them in the shade untill now but i can't wait to give them full sun .

I also bought a pomgranate India and put it in the full sun immediatly but then it lost most leaves and all flowers. Now it is making new leaves again so i m carefull these days with full sun. That one is also about a metre high.

Keep them in half sun for 2 weeks and trim back any weak or leggy growth to a node where it can regrow. After that they should be ready to put out in full sun. Sunburn on leaves shows quickly but stem sunburn will take longer become evident.
