Where can I find fruits in Miami? ....and scions
« on: March 20, 2017, 02:17:18 PM »
Hi,
I have a friend in Miami, I have to ask where precisely and for how many days.
I would ask to bring me something...could you help me ?

I would find:
- Pineapple crowns of good varieties (Elite Gold, Kona Sugarloaf, White Jade, Red Spanish, Smooth Cayenne, Hilo, Natal Queen, Pernambuco, Cesar, Montreal, Gold Hybrid, Edible variegated)
- mamey fruits (I know this is the period)....is there a market? or something where is possible to take fresh fruits?
- manilkara fruits
- mangoes fruits .... is there a particular place with different varieties? i would try coconut cream, cushman, pina colada and julie
- pomelo valentine scions and smith red valencia
- and not tropical fruits .... cordyline fruiticosa and croton

thanks a lot for eventual answers

Robert Is Here in Florida City, a little south of Miami, tends to have nice tropical fruit from local farmers. Pine Island Nursery sells fruit trees and sometimes fruit, best to call ahead. There are lots of fruit stands down in the Redlands and Homestead area, just gotta ride around and get lucky. The Pinecrest Gardens farmer's market on Sundays (9 - 2) usually has some pretty good stuff too. Might be worth driving up north a little, Mike at Treesnmore has some really nice plants.

Actallt, most likely July for the varieties named in the original post.  No way will any of those be ready in May.
