How many years for seedling Ilama to fruit?
« on: April 07, 2020, 08:00:58 PM »
I have a seedling Ilama (pink fleshed I believe) and it's about 4 years old, with no sign of flowers.

How many years do these typically take to fruit from seeds and if it should be fruiting already, what can I do to help it?

Regards,
Sam

I have a plant of Raúl, rose seed variety that was born on 2 September 2016 and on 22 April 2017 plant in soil, has 4 meters and does not bloom yet, perhaps in the rains.

In the  tropics they grow super fast. I have several seedlings I started in Yucatán 2 years ago that are over 2 meters. I expect them to start producing next season. In the subtropics add 2 to 3 years to that.

So it seems some tough love was required - I did some serious trimming about a month and a half ago and finally I have a flower!!

The picture is not the clearest but you get the idea. It's about an inch and a half long - so a bit bigger than typical sugar apple flower.

Sam
