Tropicaltoba, the fan is "J&D Manufacturing".  This company seems to be widely represented on greenhousemegastore.com where I got my greenhouse kit from and my vent openers and exhaust fans are from the same company.

RS, the pizza-sized jabo container is Maccourt "plantainer".  I got it at Home Depot.   The bigger ones are a little pricey otherwise but good quality.  They were marked down on clearance once so I bought a bunch of them.  I use the larger 20gal ones also

The smaller containers in the air are plastic foodservice containers from leftover corporate catering, takeout, and such.

Dad, yes I built it myself from a kit from greenhousemegastore.com, with help from family and friends.  It was a huge effort but well worth it.  Paying somebody else to do the foundation, assembly, and utilties would have tripled the price for sure.  I learned it a lot.. the build is documented here:

Generally at temperatures bellow 50F Key Limes don't grow well.

Does my rootstock look like C35?

I'm not sure what C-35 leaves look like, maybe someone else can answer that. But it's definitely either trifoliate or some trifoliate hybrid like citrange (C-35, Carrizo, etc), and Eureka is incompatible with most of those. Did you happen to save the original nursery tags or photograph them? The rootstock is sometimes coded on them (e.g., if it has CZO in the code then that's Carrizo).

Unfortunately, I’ve lost most of those on my 35 gal trees cause I just wrote the name on the pot and didn't think to note the rootstock; I’m just learning the effects of rootstock on citrus now and seeing how important it is. I attached pics of the ones I do have, which all seem to be doing well with no signs of incompatibility.

Thanks again for your help in figuring out this problem!

I don't think foliar feeding would be effective because there is no efficient way for the tree to take in the nutrients, since the leaves and stem aren't meant to take in nutrients the way roots do. if anything, it could be harmful to the leaves. to me it sounds like pseudoscience, but I have no experience in foliar feeding and not much in mangoes, take me with a grain of salt.

Are you specifically referencing mango trees or all trees? Its a very established practice with quite a few other types of trees like citrus for example. I have been given fish emulsion when I first got into trees from a large citrus nursery and told to hit all citrus leaves, top and bottom, once a month. While I havent kept up that regimen over the years I do do it several times a year and only my greening trees seem to not get real effects from it(color-wise). I would assume mangos get the same benefit.
Squam mentions foliar feeding mangoes when addressing someone's question in this video

If this is the "other" chart, you mean, I think neither really supersedes the other. One is based on tests in CA and the other based on tests in Australia, using different grafting techniques and potentially different rootstock sources that may not be genetically identical even if they are allegedly from the same nucellar seed line. Any discrepancies are probably down to those kind of differences.

Cold Hardy Citrus / Re: Citrumelo Nr. 82

Good to read about your experience with Citrumelo 82, Florian.

My Dunstan Citrumelo has a very good aroma and NO Poncirus off-flavours. It is just like a sour grapefruit with some sticky substance in the fruits. The sticky substance is tasteless.

The fruits of Swingle 5 Star that I have tasted were very bitter. I prefer by far my Dunstan and my Morton. Batumi Citrumelo is also very good, maybe the best. Batumi is too sour for eating out of hand. But my Morton was sweet enough that I ade some fruits fresh as they were. I found their Poncirus flavours quite tolerable.

Citrus General Discussion / The "cool tolerance" of key limes
« Last post by drymifolia on Today at 04:44:34 PM »
I've often seen it said that key limes are among the least cold-tolerant of all citrus, and they do seem to die rather quickly during even a brief exposure to "hard freeze" temperatures. But in my mostly unheated greenhouse here in the "cool mediterranean" climate of Seattle, they seem to be among the most tolerant of non-freezing but persistently cool temperatures.

Whereas mandarins, Persian limes, and lemons get a sickly yellow color after months on end of lows in the 30s-40s and highs often in the 40s and rarely above 60 (all in °F), the key limes not only stayed dark green, they were the first to push a new spring flush.

Has anyone else in cooler mediterranean climates noticed this? I was mostly growing these seedlings as a novelty, but after seeing their performance for a winter in the greenhouse, I'm thinking I'll put one in the ground in there permanently.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Himalayan Mulberries

Interesting, Sangue e Latte grafts seem normal in Italy and in the rest of the Mediterranean, it's also a strong grower as a rootstock.

Kaz, how does Dmor9 compare to Red Himalayan please?

Would that mean Sangue e Latte is better used as rooted cuttings? Or importantly, that they can be rooted from cuttings?

Citrus General Discussion / Re: New Zealand lemonade vs Meyer lemon

I've not had it myself, but pretty much every time I've seen it under discussion people have spoken very highly of it. Whether compared to Meyer, Pomona, or Ujukitsu, NZL seems to always come out on top.

Thanks! I have only tried Sanbokan and I really like it. I do not have an NZL, will probably get one soon.
