Hey guys

I'm from New Zealand and Jaboticaba Cauliflora is the only Jaboticaba species (except yellow) that we can legally import.

I'm trying to gather a list of all of the good rare or common varieties of Cauliflora or cauliflora hybrids that are worth growing.

I already have Grimal, red hybrid and sabara and I know of the following other kinds:

Escarlate
Acu paulista
Wavy leaf Acu paulista
Paulista
Otto Anderson
Novak
De pulpa rosea

Can anyone add to this list please?

Thanks so much.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Jaboticaba seed storage question
« on: June 04, 2019, 05:26:17 AM »
Hey everyone,

I wanted to know whether Jaboticaba are truly Recalcitrant seeds or if anyone has had experience with successful sprouting dried seeds? Like not bone dry, but say a couple of weeks outside of moisture, kept inside a bag, of course. Or would they lose viability really fast?

Thanks for any info!

Hey guys

Do Miracle Fruit seeds need to be kept moist when shipping? Or can they be shipped dry?

Thanks to anyone that might know.

I thought there might be interest in some of the pineapple guava varieties being distributed in New Zealand. Unfortunately, we have such strict exporting and importing laws regarding plant material that I can't send anything overseas, sorry about that! This is more about an interesting read/look at what is growing here and also a couple of successful grafts I did to a seedling and existing tree I have.

Oh and also a cherimoya variety developed here called "Rex". It is a beautiful smooth fruit with no grit, medium to low seed count and an unbelievable lemon cheesecake flavour, with tropical notes. Very delicious. The fruit size is also medium to large.

I made a photo gallery so you can see all pics in one place :)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Achachairu question
« on: May 11, 2019, 07:32:41 PM »
Hey guys

Has anyone ever had a single achachairu seed (or any garcinia for that matter) push two main shoots before? This was definitely a single seed but it has two plants emerging.

Hey everyone

I'm located in New Zealand and it's nearly impossible to bring in scions or whole plants without paying thousands of dollars and risking the plants dying, so my best option to get new cultivars is by growing from seed and hoping for the best. To do that I figured I should grow seed from the top cultivars.

I'm after 10-15 seeds from at least 3 top cherimoya, 3 top atemoya and 1-2 top illama.

Some possible cherimoya cultivars that would be good are El Bumpo, Orton and Helmut and Campas.

Some atemoya I'd like seed from is Dream (cherimoya?), Calostro, Birula and Lisa.

The only Ilama I know if is Rosada, but open to anything.

Does anyone have seeds for these varieties? Im sure if you're growing other varieties there's good chances for crossing but I don't mind.

Thanks!

Hi everyone, this is my first time on this forum. I've already learned so much, thanks for all of the knowledge.

I live in New Zealand where it is possible to grow Annona fruit like cherimoya and atemoya. I have been searching for "Dream Annona" with no success.

Is there anyone out there willing to send Scion wood internationally at my risk, willing to pay for it. I know it's a long wait for Scion wood but if kept moist it could be possible.

Or is there anyone selling actual plants?

Thanks heaps for any word on the subject.
Nick
