Inga Vulpina Impostor
« on: July 31, 2017, 03:39:11 PM »
I bought this tree as inga vulpina from eBay seller 7 heads. The 3-4 year old & 6-7 ft tree is on a double rootstock with inga feuillei as the added roostock.

It finally bloomed but I was expecting pink flowers for this species but I was surprised and disappointed when I saw white/yellow flowers when it finally bloomed. What can this be?

Could be Inga feuillei? Maybe that rootstock took over? Feuillei is more vigorous.

The inga feuillei roostock has already been decapitated. The canopy is inga vulpina only.

Hard to id positively from just the flower, but yeah, it's not vulpina, which has distinctly pink flowers. Most ingas have white flowers.

Another classic reason for not buying anymore trees from ebay...

I've picked up some nice plants off eBay that were not available elsewhere. It is always a gamble, but sometimes is a decent option if you can't find what you are looking for elsewhere. 7_heads has some nice plants, but tends to be overpriced. Picked up a few plants from him over the years that appear to be accurately labeled. Contact him and see if he will make it right.

Not even worth the time or effort, he will just dosey doh you for months, and who’s to say he could actually replace it with I. Vulpina.

I decided to revive this topic, as it concerns an eBay seller 7_heads.
I purchased a seedling of Inga vulpina ($70) from 7_heads on eBay. As it grew bigger it became apparent it wasn't the species I spent my money for.
I contacted the seller to let him know to only receive unapologetic response and no money back. Lesson learned!

Beware of 7_haeds on eBay
