So my guava just made it's first tropic pink guava fruit. It was VERY gross. I've had tropic pink guava and they were sweet, this one was sour and nasty. Did I do anything wrong? It's a young tree and it's it first fruit, so does that have anything to do with it?

not all guava are sweet, some are very sour, in fact their are my favorite ::), nevertheless, wait one or two crops often it changes from sour on the first crops to sweet, at least in my island.

I forgot to add the fruit was covered in black lines and dots. People told me it was most likely a lack of nutrients, not a pest or disease as the tree was fine. So I fertilized it last night, that may change the next fruit.

What's the source of your guava? Cultivars vary drastically, with guava you have to keep searching. Vegetative propagation of something that favors your taste buds is the catch, not everyones favorite will be the same. I cultivate various cultivars and many are distinct. Eat the skin also, highly nutritious and has a lot of flavor.

I personally tried tropic pink and Beaumont Red and disappointed. Sour and soft flesh. I then found a backyard grower who sold me TW King Kong and Pearl. There is no going back. Crunchy and with the right level of sweetness. I'd never plant pink flesh guava again.

If you will never plant it again, that’s a tough stance because you didn’t mention the cultivar of the pink. There’s over 140+ distinct guava cultivars, can’t narrow it solely on color only, especially with all the variation that occurs with guava. I’m sure there’s pink guavas that will blow you away. Not everyone’s taste buds are the same.
