Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: THIEVES IN THE COMMUNITY
« on: February 02, 2022, 01:27:28 PM »
You joined with the specific (sole?) intent to complain about a failed transaction, having nothing to do with TFF, that happened 4 years ago, correct? That's going to be unpopular for several reasons. We are a community, this is not Ripoff Report (https://www.ripoffreport.com/); you have outside beef, best to keep it outside. You want to join the community to learn, contribute, transact with other members, you are welcome. You want to get in-touch with a member through this forum, try sending them a Private Message or two, first. Going straight to starting a thread with a title like yours as your first communication, calling out a member for over a decade by their full name on a public forum, it's not going to be popular.

Actually it does have to do with TFF if you guys still have him listed on the seeds page as a vendor to order from? That kind of gives TFF’s stamp of approval saying he’s one of the good guys? Unless i’m mistaken?

Actually, it doesn't. TFF isn't a business. It's a community-driven forum, nobody (mods or otherwise) is paid for their time or efforts. Getting listed as a seller is not an endorsement of any kind; vendor approval seemingly consists of having a semi-functioning website and sending a PM request to be listed. TFF makes nothing and approves of no one; deals are arranged between members of their own accord. It's a laissez faire kinda place, and caveat emptor should always be the expectation.

Do the right thing and remove him from the pinned post, overwhelmingly negative reviews here by multiple people. To the ones that defend him (very few) If the accusations are not true why doesn't he come out of his hidings and defend himself? Think about that for a second.

Great post for newbies

Treated with Giberic Acid and then I put them in a ziplot bag with moist coconut fiber.

That's Gibberellic Acid you mean correct? how long did you treat the seeds with it for? and what percentage/strength of soultion?

You do know your posting this in buy & sale thread? There is a tropical fruit section more suitable and probably get your answers rather quicky.

Hey All,

I am relocating due to a job opportunity and was wondering what are some of the best areas to grow tropical/subtropical, any microclimates that are better than others, i.e Valley/by lake..

If you live in Austin, what do you grow out there?

Apricot
Lychee
Figs
Garcinia
Jaboticaba

For those who thinks they are buying leftovers, u are not required to buy scions from the seller, its totally an option since most of his varieties cant be bought elsewhere.

Exactly why I stated I won't be purchasing, since this is an open public forum I stated my reasons, if the seller wants to take the feedback for future sales or not its up to him, I am not required to buy luckily as you stated ;-)

FYI Just because something is not available else where does not necessary make it more attractive to most of us, I can justify paying the minimum required amount if I knew I could get 2 or 3 of the varieties I really wanted, but they are sold out. Paying for 4 more wood varieties to get that one is not feasible I wish I was made of money to do that ;-)

No hard feelings like I said I wont be purchasing ;-)

I would let them be, here in California best time to clip or trim figs is roughly last week in January (or after your last freeze).

Its serious lychee time here at my place, 1 out of 3 trees on the property. Pretty hard to reach some of these, the tree was improperly pruned a number of years ago ... but it still seems happy

1st year for a good harvest. I believe this was a brewster planted some years ago.

I enjoyed some earlier today & decided to pick a few more and eat now...  There are probably 30 more on the small tree for later.

These were very sweet & tart combo & so fun to eat with the clear plump juicy flesh surrounded by the egg shell thin shell.

Sorry, didn't have time to stop and take a picture till they were all gone.... :P

Wow, what a monster producer. when I was in Big Island few years ago, I saw trees loaded like this and fruits would be on the ground spoiling. Same for mangoes.

Great link thank you for sharing, also states that Sweetheart is the most consistent producer.

Any tips on pruning lychee tree? I have a Mauritius lychee and a Sweet Heart. So far the Sweet heart is very slow growing so I think they need different way of pruning?

I only have sweet heart, I am looking to get a second variety , would you recommend Mauritius?
