How to I know when my nectarines are ripe?

(1/1)

Tropicalnut:
They look nice and red, but are still hard and crunchy.

giorgosgr.:
if you want them to be really ripe and juicy they will be ripe when they smell a lot and then skin will give in when you push it. But many people eat them hard (unripe).

PersephonesChild:
When you can smell the ripe nectarines standing 20 feet from the tree, they are probably perfect. Make sure you have loads of napkins for eating...

Istanabungur:
I eat my saturn donut peaches crunchy but if you like it ripe, touch the fruit and as soon as they are squeezable (gently), then they are ready. But pick them asap by then or the June bugs, birds, flies and rodents will start crowding your trees for fruits and pick up all that fell to the ground as well to prevent getting flies and other pesky rodents.

Lovetoplant:
You can send some to me to taste them for you.  Then I will let you know.
