Title: Preorders for 1 gal grafted mango and shipping
Post by: skhan on November 17, 2020, 08:56:02 AM
I have a bunch of Neelam mango seedlings that I really have no use for anymore.
I planting them for breeding and selected the ones I wanted based on sap smell. 6 out for 50

Anyway, I figured I can graft some small trees in spring and send them out in summer.
I should be able to fit 1 in a medium box and 2 in a large.

$30 for 1 not including shipping
$50 for 2 not including shipping

If anyone is interested let me know

Sorry guys, i don't have a phyto so I can't ship to CA

Post here please, it will be easier for me to keep a tally of varieties
I'll reach out to confirm before i start grafting

I’d love to get a cotton candy please! Can you get Coconut Cream? If not, put me down for a pina colada!

Coconut Cream is patented so you may need to check with the patent holder for permission to propagate.

Since Neelam is a small tree, do you think it will have any effect on the size of the grafted trees?  It would be great if it caused dwarfing!

Just wondering would it be possible to have 2 grafts on the same tree?

I was thinking that too. The neelam in my yard is like 15ft though and that's with annually pruning so not really a dwarf.
I'm mostly doing this for the non south florida growers so I figured turp wouldn't be necessary.

Probably not. The tree would be too big to ship at that point

I think you're offering a great service (and I appreciate the mangos you let me sample last summer)!  This is a great guy, people.

I couldn't tell you for sure.
I'd look into the other SE asian varieties.
Possibly Cac or Mahachanok

I appreciate the kind words. This should be a good year.
By the time the season is in full swing I should be fully vaccinated.
Let me know when your in the neighborhood, I should have more time to chat and give you a tour if you'd like.

I've been getting a lot of PM concerning varieties I don't have access to.
In these cases, I'd recommend purchasing the Budwood from Alex (Squam)

I've contacted the people who placed pre-orders.

I have some additional.
Orange Sherbet (Cookies Clone)
Cotton Candy

These will be slightly higher than the preorder price at $35

Concerning shipping.
I think the best way to get it there intact is to slightly bare root it.
The large flat rate box only leaves 6 inches for above soil growth so shipping it in a pot might not be the best idea.
