Tropical Fruit Discussion / annona questiom
« on: July 14, 2015, 08:11:31 AM »
I'm about to transfer my young atemoya seedlings in the garden and i've a question.
Since i've several plants of annona squamosa, is cross pollination between the 2 species  possible?
If yes, is it desirable or better to avoid it?
In this case i should find a location as far as possible from the sugarapple.
Thanks!

My atemoya seeds just sprouted, i got 3 seedlings out of 3 seeds.
Among them, one looks quite different with more round shaped leaves.
Anyone can kindly  confirm me that they are all atemoya?
Thanks!

Hello!
My Guava and soursop trees are attacked by an undentified disease.
Leaves get "stained" by irregular dark brown areas then slowly turn yellowish (often in an asymmetrical way) and finally fall off.
Inspecting the lower part of the leaves some small dark "pins" are noticeable but even wih a magnifying lens no insect is visible.
The trees look suffering and stopped growing.
Any help or suggestion is well accepted thanks!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / help for sick avocado tree
« on: April 02, 2015, 07:46:18 AM »
I'm currently growing some avocado trees in my garden and since i planted their seeds about 2 years ago they are doing really well and growing fast reaching about 2 meters height.

Unfortunately, one of the small tree started to show some problems during the last months, the growth stopped,  the leaves began to shrivel, to curl, became leathery with yellowish irregular blotches spreading around until the whole leaf ends to fall off.

I thought about broad mites but i couldn't find any of those terrible scritters carefully examining the leaves with a magnifying lens.

I also was thinking about avocado root rot disease but actually the soil is well drained and the tree doesn't show any sign of wilting, just slow growing and with a yellow suffering appearance.

I'm posting a picture of the leaves showing how is the progression of the disease from the first leave in the foreground getting worse until it's completely yellow as in the last leaf in the background.

Anyone could help me??

Thanks!
