Jackfruit tree Question
« on: June 29, 2012, 08:18:20 PM »
My jackfruit tree is growing nice new leaves. There is a lot of dead branches however that are just doing nothing. I saw Richard Campbell's video that said jackfruit trees should only be pruned in the fall. Does this apply to deadwood and branches also? Should I leave the dead stuff on the tree or can I prune all the dead branches etc.?

Here is a link to U of F IFAS extension page on jackfruit.  They have a calendar that says selective pruning can be done starting in May.

Go ahead and prune all those dead branches any time of year.

I agree with Ohio. Jackfruit must be pruned when the tree is actively growing(summer)
.

Time is like a river.
You cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again.
Enjoy every moment of your life!

The video specifically said late summer and early fall and mentioned September? That's why don't want to make a mistake.

It's real easy, trim live branches during the hottest months of the year and as Oscar stated. dead branches anytime!
