let me wait for my order from March plants recovery.  I will replace them if some of them croak.

2
Black Crystal buds are starting to swell. Same with An Hai. Nothing on biqi and the male tree...Although the male tree looks like it could potentially be up to something.
Still wondering what the best course of action is to get rid of those nematodes. Either re-graft or try to treat.

Yeah, my biqi and DK(male+female) are  either dead or still sleeping.  The rest are start to push out buds.

3
I got one of each + 1DK male.  Out of all the 8trees, only the DK branches were dried for me. I trimmed the dried stems all the way down to a few inches.

Bill, I'm already thinking let's do it again next year if mine doesn't make it at all.
Big thanks to Bill for putting in all the efforts. It's a lot of work, especially having to mail it out to people as well.

Correct, most things don't require skills like fixing plumbing or figuring out electrical issues and fixing it. And farming or growing plants is not either. Farming relies on weather.
However, not everyone can take information and process it . Does everyone in the same class understands linear equations or how data structure are used?  why are there A's & F's students?

hard laborer like farming is something anyone can do.  Not everyone can write codes(I'm talking about good coder, not kiddy coder) , or is a brain surgeon. Those takes real skills and talents. Hence they get pay $$$$$ for their skills.

@ Andreas,
luc Garciana are very easy to grow from seeds. I"m in SF bay area zone10A, threw them into a pot outdoor , and they will grow like weeds. If you have greenhouse, they grow faster in greenhouse.   Mine will be 4yrs and a few of them in the greenhouse have several branches already.

Some people are out their to take advantage of addictive hobbyist , be it in this site or others. I suggest you ping Luc or Raulglezruiz for seeds.  10/10 seeds germinated for me. I am thinking of buy some more from Luc or Raul.  Luc &  Raulglezruiz, JF, & achetadomestica are the guys I deal so far Their prices are cheaper than most and quality is good too. They make it affordable for us to enjoy this hobby.

Why are you assuming or rather, implying, that not anyone can write code? Or with eventual schooling, become a brain surgeon? Neither of those things require extraordinary skills..hint, most things don't.

JF,
in terms of taste and flavors only, what are the top 6 you like  from the list?

7
I read somewhere that it requires two plant to bear fruit.  Kinda like snake fruit thing.

I think there is hope that some are still sprouting for you.  Some of mine sprouted about 3-6weeks apart.  So, keep an eye on them.

8
I thought you guys in Santa B. would be 10a/b since you're further down south.   my area is 10a according to USGS. Definitely, bring it inside during the winter.

9
yikes. Be very careful my friend. We don't want to.see anyone with a mishap.   Thanks very much for sharing, it's a great lesson for all of us too. Lots of time, we don't think about protecting ourselves when doing work like trimming trees, etc..   Now I have to think twice about stuff like this.

10
K-Rimes,  Yes, totally agree.  I think we have the same climate.  I have mine outdoor unprotected.  there were some new growth that got hit by the winter cold and lost a few leaves.   I keep thinking will I live long enough to  get to taste the fruits at this rate of growth.   I also wonder if it is slow for the first few years, then after a certain age, the plant will start busting out in growth??

11
great price for that size of tree.   They are so super slow growth.   I bought seedling 3yrs ago ordered on eBay and shipped form HI.   3yrs later, it is less than 1foot tall.

12
make sure you got 2 plants for them mate.  They are super slow but they do make great house plants.

13
oh yeah, this sounds like it's going to be fun.  We want to see the video and the fools that will be chasing after their herd.

14
I can see why people would be stealing oak tree in your country. They make great firewoods.

100% not raccoon.  I had my pot of taro plant stolen from the front yard in the past.  Also, the purpose sweet potatoes are just about to sprout out new shoots.  Its not an entire potato that the raccoon would want to eat. It's little slips that I cut up and stick into the ground.

Are you sure the assholes weren’t raccoons ?

I planted some purple sweet potatoes cuttings on the sidewalk infront of my house.  Some asshole stole it.
They dug the topsoil off  where I planted the cuttings.

The middle one has floral smells. The other two, has no smell.  I will let me sister do the taste test and see what she thinks.

I was on my way to work when a lady asked for some mangos from my tree. I said,” sure you can have a couple”. When I came home the tree was emptied. You lose faith in humanity sometimes.

ha ha ha. Next time, you need to take a picture of their ID first., then say, you can pick only 3, anything after than is $5/each.  Now you know where the person lives and you can report it to police if three is empty.

home grown fruits taste better than store bought fruit.

that is why we grow our own fruits and veggies.  Plus it's pesticide and chemical free.

my worst theives are the squirrels and rats.  they are so smart.

Forester, at least you got two leaves.

yes, it's promising in 9b/10a.

this plant is found in southern china and Northern Vietnam. I've been to Northern Vietnam and Sapa  in end of sept 2008 , it was raining for a few days.   I think in Dec, it is cold and soggy. So, it would be similar to SF Bay Area winter climate.

Sapa is beautiful. Here's a pic when I as there tryin to capture the scenic view of the mountain.

23
receive the seeds in Dec. It's pretty slow growing.

24
first true leaf emerges.  6.5ys to go before I get to see any fruits.

My pump doesn't work anymore. When I turn it on it has a buzzzzz sound.  what would be the problem? It work for a a year or two and then not working anymore.  Maybe my brother didn't install it correctly?
