I agree. Some form of guava anyways.

After looking at some strawberry guava images, it does 100% look like one!

There are 2 varietyes of strawberry guava,Psidium Cattleyanum.
One makes yellow fruit and its called lemon guava ,and the otther makes mauve fruit or red and its called strawberry guava.
I grow both and they are fruiting heavy in the pot.

I have a friend who grows them, never got a chance to taste them however, but it looks to me like he has no issues with flies. I have some guava varieties growing in my yard, and they have never had fruit fly problems, so maybe it isn't an issue in my close vicinity... hopefully.
