What sort of fertilizer are you using? I see some minor element deficiency. You could probably benefit from a good minors mix plus some sulfur.

I'm using 8-3-9 with minors 9% sulfur
I put sulfur down on the j31 Jackfruit a few months ago and did an Iron drench about a week ago.

Let me know if you see anything else that i can correct, bought some MnSO4 recently

OK. I don't know if the sulfur in the 8-3-9 will help much. I think it's the sulfur combined with mg, mg, k, etc. I would probably drop a full 50-pound bag of Tiger 90 (but perhaps avoid the annonas). It will take about a year before the pH drops. Maybe reapply after a year depending on pH result.

MnSO4 (not chelated) may not help unless you can drop the soil pH.

You'll probably want to fertilize every 30 days. During the winter, Har says to not use nitrogen though. Make sure you give the trees enough fert. I would probably go through 1/2 full bag on each fertilization on a 1/4 acre lot, and a lot more when the trees mature. The drawback with the 8-3-9 is that it only takes 2 good rains to make it disappear. The mature mango trees may not enjoy the N.

You can buy granular minors separately from the N-P-K.

So far over the past year I put down 60lb of micronized sulfur (all i can find locally)
When i go to Truly Tropical I'll pick a few bags of Tiger 90 from Chris.
And some of Hars no nitrogen formula

While Har's blend may work great on a more mature tree, young trees or deficient trees on the average joes average cared for yard will sure need some nitrogen.

Jeff - I understand what your point is with the trees growth habit using Hars blend on younger trees but you are doing something so very different than most with how you are amending/doctoring your soil.

I never really did well, I think i might have over fertilized its previously damaged root system.
I love the fruit but no more space now

I know we've all seen FL mango trees that don't want to grow due to lack of fertilization. However, I don't think the limiting factor is Nitrogen. My theory is that if one addresses shortages of the other nutrients (minors, P, K, Mg, Ca), a mango tree will grow adequately without nitrogen regardless of age.

However, if one wants Fast Growth, then nitrogen would be key. I think the more novice growers expect to see quick growth. But those of us who have had the privilege of maintaining large mango trees actually enjoy the concept of not having to trudge out the saw and chipper shredder.

The mango trees on my south lot have never been given nitrogen -- just minors P, K, Ca, Mg -- and they have been growing at what I would call a perfect pace of one to two flushes per year. Their soil is un-amended, mineral deficient, loamy sand from palm beach county. Nothing else will grow adequately without fertilization, but the mangoes are doing exceptionally well.

While Har's blend may work great on a more mature tree, young trees or deficient trees on the average joes average cared for yard will sure need some nitrogen.

Backyard is coming along nicely.

Thanks,
I have a nice spot originally planned for the Jinotepe Mamey americana. Its between two mangos.
I was thinking of planting an Edward.
Its on the north side of my lot so i don't mind it growing taller as most of the shade it cast will be on the neighbors grass. (keep it around
Do you have any recommendations? Vertical/compact growth habit is what I'm looking for.

BTW, I'm going to plant the Jinotepe in near the south wall of the house to protect it from the cold

Mr Jinotepe could be fine out in the open. They are damaged with anything 32 or below, but we may never see that in this area, being an urban heat island.

Edward is actually a great mango. I finally started top working one of my trees to Edward.

Backyard is coming along nicely.

Well thats good to know about to Jinotepe, so far two of the 3 grafts took so i have to figure out what to do with the other one.

I guess I'll go with the Edward then, I might just plant one of the seedling (rootstock) mangos i have graft it in the summer.
At least this way it can get a head start on root development.

Congratulation skhan. Everything looks good. Adding some Trace Elements will certainly make it better.

Jeff, what do you think of this product (NPK) ?. it comes with chelated trace elements and Magnesium sulfate.

I potted and sold the second malay apple.
I found out the season was pretty short and in summer so having two them would have been a waste. Also, the electrical and water services for the house is right underneath and i didn't want the roots messing with it.

The 1:1:1:1/18 ratio may not be ideal for fruiting trees. Mangoes probably want something closer to a 0:1:5? I also prefer a granulated and slow release product, as it's easier to apply. A water soluble product needs to be applied regularly (probably best to deliver via the irrigation system).
