He has sent me numerous seeds to Australia and never had a problem with him sending the seeds or the quality. Australian customs destroyed some packages for no reason but most came through. Just recently received some purple ilama seeds frim him, you need to see the fruit! By far the strongest purple on an ilama I've seen

Share the photo of the purple fruit.

I sourced seeds from higher elevation and wetter/cooler climate ilamas in the Sierra Madre. A number of these seedlings have made it to Central and South Florida. I’l be curious to learn how they perform
after a few seasons.

I like to boil them in the skin and then peel and cut up chunks that I sprinkle A1 steak sauce on to eat. Works for me.

Like a dry paint brush dragged over the petals

In my location it can be from the end of July to the beginning of October.

Nice leaf study.

I never got any viable seedlings of squamosa X diversifolia or of diversifolia X squamosa, but with so many diverent varieties to try, who knows?
Thank you, Using one ilama seedling tree I have, the ilama pollen on a green squamosa seedling creates deformed fruits with no viable seeds. I’m trying other ilama pollen this  season and so far fruit deformity has not occured on green or red fruit squamosa. We’ll see.

Hey Bob, looks like Ilama trees do well under island climate. Have you tried to cross them with Sugar Apple?

I use ilama pollens on different squamosas I have. I’m waiting to see how the fruits develop this season or if they will drop off.

Do you have experience or knowledge of grafting ilama on established cherimoya tree? I have a one and half year old growing in a pot, but would like to graft a scion to the cherimoya. Wondering if it can keep up with growth of other cherimoya branches and die back.

I have no experience grafting ilama to cherimoya.

Some ilama leaf variation among three types

Sometimes a narrow leaf can indicate a nutritional imbalance or deficiency.
It would be intrested to have a leaf tissue analasys and see if the shape of the leaf is genetic or due to an issue in this case.

Or it is called Annona diversifolia for a reason :D

The fruit color is amazing! What a beauty!
Thank you
The narrow leaf is consistent as these are all well fed. The fruit appearance is off as these are crossed with other ilama pollen.

This is the pollen donor and vise versa.
