Title: Citrus worth planting?
Post by: Empoweredandfree on May 30, 2019, 08:48:27 AM
So I’m thinking of bringing my citrus trees down to FL and putting them in the ground within the food forest I’m building but is it worth it with the greening issues?

I can not forsee a remedy for hlb appearing magically in the next near future. You can do as I do. Love your citrus, take good care of it, use only "clean" wood to graft with and hope for a defeat of greening. There will be a fix......

You can not bring citrus into FL from any other state. Just a heads up.

I guess my question is greening inevitable on Florida citrus? What percentage of trees get it?

It is rampant in Florida now and sure to spread. Hence the quarantine....no citrus/related in or out of FL.

The chance of your citrus tree contacting HLB in Florida is about 100%.  It is just a matter of time.

Thanks Millet, I’ll leave citrus out of the equation
