I've yet to eat an M-4 but I can say without a doubt that the Sugarloaf is no disappointment. It was my personal favorite of the new verities I was able to sample last season. Depending on how long you leave it on the counter it went from tart pineapple to pinacolada  to "wholly coconut" when it was wrinkly. just my opinion for what it's worth.

What about Guava mango?

What did you not like about the Cogshall?  I believe it is one that is supposed to be resistant to MBBS.

I had three sunrise trees and one ugly betty that gave me tons of fruit last year.  I am in Brevard county. The fruit were clean and this year they are just now flowering. The sunrise trees in particular were very productive and had a pretty extended season.

How is the fruit on both of those?

is Dwarf Hawaiian the only cultivator your going to put on or just the first one?  I don't have that one yet but like that it is an early variety as well as tasting good. How is the disease resistance?

Yes they will scratch all the mulch out looking for bugs and will disturb the feeder roots. Will it hurt the tree? probably not but you will have an excess of nitrogen built up over time that would most likely affect the quality of your fruit (taste and jelly seed for example). Also, a high amount of nitrogen will make your trees themselves less disease resistant. However, I collect the chicken manure under the roost and use it sparingly on the drip line of my trees. It has a good amount of potassium, calcium and other important micros in it that your mango trees will respond positively to.  If your trees are established and you are harvesting fruit skip the fertilizer until the fruit comes off. I've made that mistake and nitrogen does effect the taste of the fruit ( makes it kind of musky and off putting IMHO) It is recommended to continue with a micro nutrient regiment.  I am not an expert but there are many on this site who are and have lots of first hand experience with there orchards of well producing mature trees.   Bottom line, keep the mango trees out of the chicken run if you can.     

What verities are they?  Im not an expert, but i spray copper for anthracnose and a wettable sulpher powder for powdery mildew, don't use sulpher on Lemone zest mango tree's. It will cause the leaves to fall off. 

Thanks for your input. That's a good point about the Black spot, I'm sure we have it in Brevard/ Merritt island from all the tree's that are coming from palm beach but it hasn't been a major issue that I can see yet. There are a lot of small farms around here with older susceptible varieties. It might be a good idea to start top working some now. Is VP one that gets the Black spot?

a few pics of my project tree. grafts were done summer of 2018 and are growing well. with a few shoots on the back side of the tree to add onto in the spring. I used a basic cleft graft and will practice side veneer in the spring time.
