Any first hand knowledge on Ambrosia?  Being named after the "Food of the Gods" is a lot of hype to live up to.

No offense to the Zills but Delores is not in the same class with any of them whatsoever.

Anyone recall what number designation Nancy is.

Is That to say it's better?

That makes sense. Did you use a gritty mix to plant them in?

It turns out that I am not the only forum member that bought one of only two available under the same hopes that it might be something new to the U.S and be worthy of sharing. If in deed it is and only time will tell. I will consult the other member about possibly naming it "Paco", after the mystery man who propagated it. That's we call it at my house any way.

Is it all just a tease, or will we get some early fruit with some springtime sets as well?

Also out of curiosity, why pots and not in the ground?

Well, if it's that high up on your list I guess I'll have to at least figure out where to get some to try or maybe a big one that will fruit in the pot.  I'm pretty much out of yard space. My wife informed me that I have 21 mango trees and still haven't even planted them all yet. It's impossible to find some of the new cultivators in Brevard/ Merritt island that are in the ground bearing fruit.

How would you guys rate/describe the fruit? This is one I am on the fence about.

I have a CC in my yard with about a 2in trunk caliper and about 5ft tall, in the ground for two years at the start of the season. I felt it was very productive for a tree it's size and age. Seamed to put on size quickly but I can't say I care for the low spreading habit. Also, I will be spraying for anthracnose this year as all of my trees could have done better.

So I bought a grafted tree from puerto rico ( ebay) this summer based on The claim that it would produce the mangos pictured. Claimed to be an unknown variety by the seller who was selling several other grafted and we'll know premium varieties. Further questioning revealed that the man in The picture known only as "Paco" grafted a few trees from the tree In His back yard. The fruit is ginormous and was said to have little to no fiber sweet/tangy and we'll balanced. Obviously the fruit is real as for the rest only time will tell. Any ides on what it could be as far as a known cultivator?

It might be worth it to ask of one of the more experienced forum members about sending you some scions to graft, plant some seeds for rootstock and see how it goes. If not you might be able to get someone to send you a bare rooted, grafted tree of an anthracnose resistant variety. I bought one off of eBay that way and it has actually come out of its shock and flushed. I planted it in the ground after nursing it back. I probably got a mediocre known variety passed off as something new and special but hey, I'll know in a few years.

My neighbor has a 30 year old Keitt and picks them when they start to get yellow. We had them into late October. It was a banner year on the island.

first post be gentle.

So, pretty much every tree in my yard is going nuts throwing out blooms like it's springtime, except for my stubborn Maha which hasn't budged since planting it in august ( full 7gl) . Pretty sure they are all going to die and cause me untold mental anguish. Thankfully my wife is very supportive of my obsession. We now have several trees in bloom.

These are in the ground, several more starting to bud in the pot.

Valencia Pride
Carrie
Coconut Cream #1
Glenn
Lemon meringue
Cogshall
Nam Doc Mia

Why do I feel like I'm standing up at an AA meeting for the first time? ( not that I've ever been to AA, I am of Irish decent so it would just be another awkward family reunion) All jokes aside I'm pretty sure I have a sickness and the only cure is more mango trees. It all started at my local tropical nursery, there I was with good intentions to pick out a mango tree for shade in my front yard like about half of south Merritt island, with there 50+ year old monster trees. At first it was the sweet taste of a Valencia pride and wow what a big mango. the next thing I knew I was back the next day with my wife, tasting and buying a Coconut cream, Carrie, Glenn, and a Kent.  From there it only got worse. looking for room in the yard and cutting down sterile non fruit trees to get my fix by planning out and researching the next tree. Alas, I am running out of yard space with my 15 trees, some not even in the ground yet and contemplating what I would give up if I found a new one I cant live without. I can only assume this echo's a similar scenario for most of us here. Thank you for your support.  "I AM JASON AND I HAVE MANGO FEVER"

All that being said, I am also a Firefighter for Orange county and If we can ever get a contract I will probably spend my raise on mango trees, fishing rods, boat parts, and Irish whiskey.  The other 10 percent I will probably waist.
