Monoecious Garcinias
« on: March 15, 2019, 06:10:08 PM »
There is much conflicting data about which Garcinia species can produce male, female or "perfect" flowers on the same individual plant.

From YOUR OWN OBSERVATION and EXPERIENCE, which Garcinia species are monoecious and are able to produce fruits on growing-alone-tree?

Thanks!

I think you should pose the question the other way around, as almost all garcinias can fruit on their own. Very few that cannot, like imbe and button mangosteen, and even there there are some exceptions. None of the garcinias have completely perfect flowers, but some are males with some hermaphrodite flowers. Some can produce fruit without any pollination, like the mangosteen and gamboge (Garcinia xanthochymus).
