Are air layered Lychee trees good container plants?

My assumption is no for most varieties.  That said it may be possible with slower growing varieties like Emperor or No Mai Tsze.

No experience with container lychees but lychees are a very large tree, so it may not be a good candidate for a container.

Yes while it is easy to keep them alive in smaller pots you have to keep stepping them up and in the end you are fighting a loosing battle. If you have a greenhouse I would suggest planting them in ground. Mine is planted in ground and is doing great...hope that helps!

We have fruited Emperor in 25 gal pots, but they were hard to keep watered enough and we had a lot of fruit splitting.

Growing lychees in pots is not recommended.

I agree with Rob, it’s possible but I would not recommend it unless you are experienced with nutrient lock(non organic), perched water table, root pruning, etc...

Is there a list of tropical fruit trees that do fruit and grow well in containers?  I'm considering planting some fruit trees in containers if I don't end up having space for all the trees I want.
