At ground level all the green flesh is off and only a brown stem. Abone is normal growth. I wonder if this is a problem?

Yep, probably not cold enough, in New Orleans where winters are much colder the loquats bloom and fruit readily, we called them japanese plums.

I have a seedling tree guven to me by a neighbor. It has been 4years in ground and still no fruit. Thinking of digging it up. Pretty 8 foot tree but unproductive. It gets regular water, is mulched and fertilized. Now sprouting new leaves.

I did some research and believe the leaf damage is due to lace bugs. The trees are near flowering and they usually shed most of the leaves so I will wait until the fruit is set to take any action on the new leaves.

I planted a Coconut Cream in September from a 3 gallon pot and before the cold got here on the Treasure Coast it had grown to 5 feet, it rained here just before the cold weather hit so I had little time to cover things. I hastily hammered a long metal stake near it and covered it with a brown tarp and held down the edges with bricks. I also heavily mulched roots with straw. So far all is well, just a few burned edges from the tarp. It is not yet blooming but  others older different varieties are blooming now.

I am in zone 9b. My avocado trees have large brown spots on them as if burned, the center of the spots are dry and cracking. Spots begin in center of leaf not border edges. What is this ?remedy?

Thank you

I love figs, growing up in New Orleans fig trees were common and thrived in the clay soil there. Same for loquats although we called them Japanese plums. Now I am in se central Florida and have not had good results with figs here. The house cane with a 5by5 foot Celeste fig tree but unfortunately the previous owners planted it in partial sun so it bears fruit but not profusely. I have added two LSU gold and two LSU purple this year ang trying a method of planting I saw on YouTube planting them in a 5 gal. Bucket with the bottom cut out buried in the soil leaving a 1 inch lip. So far a few fruitsbut not tasty. In addition added a brown turkey fig now in a 15 gallon ceramic pot. It is going well and after a year is bearing a few fruit whereas when it as in the soul it was struggling. I read that the ground soil in bad for figs and vegetables due to nematodes. I planted a seedling loquat that is 3 years old, growing slowly and no fruit yet. Again in New Orleans they grew well and were prolific bearers , regardless they were not sought after because of large seeds and low fruit ratio. Kids loved them but most everyone ignored them. Personally I would the figs over loquats any day.

Due to my ignorance I did not realize the carambolas would grow true to seed. I might do both in a pot to begin with, yes?

Wanting to plant a sweet variety of carambola. There was a sour one on the property when I bought it but cut it down.i recently tasted a sweet one at a friends house but he did not know the variety.as he started it from seed someone gave him. He claims the tree is only 3 years old, it’s about 7 feet and prolific. I would have place for one carambola but have a sweet tooth. What varieties would be recommended.please?

My wife loves the taste, yes I had a really winter crop but they were very small and not sweet, the trees are just 2 years old. What sort of feeling, mulching will help.
