Well I figured it's time to claim Oscar at Fruitlover's.
As without him I never would have heard of many tasty fruits, let alone have a chance to grow them.
Mahalo for all your efforts to introduce me and others to new flavors of our earth!
It's the first maprangs from my seedling tree that came from Oscar. They were delicious! Sweet and sour flavor like a twangy mango...but with edible skin. Hardly any stringyness, skinny seed.
Everyone loved the fruit who got to taste it. Even my local friends who turn away from most new fruits said we should plant more of these.
The tree is about 9-10 yrs old...it flowered for a while but this year when I saw the first flowers, we quickly let lots of light in on it and mulched, added horse manure and some wood ash.
