I've offered Admin to meet me in person, with proof of degree, permits,
and they can even check out my properties (multiple)
I keep receipt of all plants, and can easily provide any information they might want.
I trust them.
I've gotten a lot of useful information from them, and went to certain nurseries, based on their opinion.

This guy attacked my character pretty hard. Over something Lori and I had already worked out.
He just keeps going and going...
I don't like being abused.
I would ask that admin step in.
I enjoy learning from all of the experience people here,
and like having people to discuss my hobby with.
This guy is being overly aggressive, for what?
I've had to defend myself how many times now?

Can we move on to discussing Marang?
I still haven't received my shipment; but I trust Lorenzo to follow the rules, and get it to me.
He's a very nice person, and very honest.
I'm interested in hearing what he has to say,
and can't wait to grow Marang for my family! :D

PM sent to DimplesLee and Admin.

My fingerlimes are all from stock imported to the university, then distributed to nurseries. I ordered them through Home Depot... See my twitter @VeiledMaid for pics. I've posted in Citrus Forum about who to contact at Home Depot ;)
As far as those trees from Nora and Peter; They tried to send the trees as 'Christmas Decoration' and I refused delivery.
I do follow all rules and regulations. For the safety of my orchard, and everyone else's.

You're being abusive for no reason.

Vernmented, You really haven't understood what I have said.
You are trolling, and I do not feed trolls.

As for anyone else who has been reading this, I'm sure you caught on that he's trying to say I'm not doing something without knowing where I have purchased seeds, from whom, or how.
I'm sure you've also realized that I do follow the law, and for good reasons. I care about my orchard, and yours.

I'd love to share videos and pictures of my trees with friends, and will invite guests to visit on my new property.
10 acres + of a unique orchard design, that I developed for the microcosm that I love.

I really won't feed this troll, but I will continue discussions with like minded people.
And I will continue to collect seeds from people who collect seeds from their own healthy disease free trees, and follow legal and ethical shipping practices :D

4
Vernmented,
I would never bypass the phytosanitary certificate. I have my beautiful trees to think of, and what would happen if diseased matter were to contaminate not only my trees, but spread...
I insist on the legal and ethical way that seeds are inspected in order to receive their phytosanitary certificate, and be shipped into the USA. You watched that video?
That is all done on the seed shippers end. The seeds then have to be inspected on entering the USA.
I'm glad for this, and glad that none of my orchard (or anyone elses) have been contaminated by diseased plant matter.

Hopefully you haven't imported something that could have devastating effects on our orchards.

In response to the person saying I'm harassing Lorenzo (DurianLover), ask him if he thinks I'm harassing him.

We don't know why the seeds were taken by agriculture; but we soon will.

Vernmented, You know it's not me that gets the permit, it's the sender. It's not on me.

Both of you:
I tried at get ahold of Lorenzo to have him tell me to accept the empty package, or not.
I made the right call.
He'll be able to see what happened, and how to manage the situation.

I'm always complimenting the people who do things legally, and send great seeds to me.
Like John Kohler (Growing Your Greens)
When I have good seeds arrive safely to me, I share it with the world! I'm so happy, I'll have more fruit for my family!
When I get bad seeds repeatedly, like three times in a row (from a popular grower on here...) I let that be known too.
Lorenzo is in my good graces because I spent $75 on a few seeds that didn't make it; but he is telling me he wants to try.
So we'll see what happens.

Mail carrier said that the package was empty. I was informed of agriculture inspection, and you will receive the empty envelope back. I recieve seeds from all over the world. If you look at how many trees and plants I own, you can see, I get a lot of seeds. I know mistakes happen. I was hoping this was just a mistake. If Agro removed seeds, it was for a reason. If they couldn't read your cert, if the seeds were moldy, if the seeds had sprouted and started growing... You'll know why when you get the package. Lorenzo, I'm not the person who is responsible for making that package empty. It was empty. It was confirmed as empty by the post office.

Here's a video that describes in short what can happen when seeds go through Agro.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4jI3J7bO10

There can be a lot of reasons why they didn't pass.
You'll find out, and please share why when you do. The information may help all of us better share our seeds (which is so very important that we all be able to do).
You know your seeds very well, and have a lot of experience shipping from Philippines. It should really be you that shares that information.

I went to the post office, on your request. At least I was able to find out why there were no seeds. Agriculture inspection.

I'm just a botanist who grows out masses of seeds from all over, hoping to have interresting and useful plants for my family. What do I know about sending seeds? Really nothing. You're the pro. I'll leave it for you to find out why they were removed.

Mailman showed up with empty envelope. No seeds. Please advise.

Edit:
I refused delivery and had Mailman return to sender. You can track it with the same tracking number you provided me.

Too bad. I had my heart set on growing Marang for my family.
This is the second time I ordered Marang, and didn't receive it.
First was from a highly respected seller (who has 100% feedback from Dave's Garden, and is loved here)
Marang denied :(

Were the seeds confiscated? I purchased Marang seeds from Lory last year and it was a smooth transaction.

I didn't see notice on the envelope, and it didn't look opened. I'll let Lorenzo look into it. If agro isn't accepting his certificates, then the seeds could have sprouted, or maybe mold. This could be bad news, if certified seeds are taken by agro.

I hope there's not some weird designation about Marang entering USA now.
My gosh, that would suck. I'm almost hoping he just forgot to put the seeds in the envelope. lol

You have to call the Supervisor in charge of ordering, at your local Home Depot. They won't give me the nursery information. After you contact them they will make the order for you, after calling the nursery to confirm availability at this time. Please be careful of ordering online. I had some bad experiences; prior to managers Bryce, Susan, and Christy, at my Home Depot getting plants to me in Maricopa. You need to go in in person, or talk to them yourself, at your store. A general employee won't know that they can order plants for you.

If it were legal for me to send you bud wood, I would.
It will be about nine months before I can trade seed; but I will definitely be doing so.
I hope that you are able to find the premium trees that you are after.
I'm from San Diego, and I know that Finger Lime will thrive there.
Good Fortune!

12
Thanks for that post, Millet. Australian Blood Lime has existed for a while. It's also called 'Red Center Lime' and produces the same pigments. I'd love to see more of these Anthocyanin rich varieties at market. They're so pretty!

13
Talk to the supervisor who orders plants at your closest Home Depot. I obtained 24 finger lime trees by having them make a special order for me. I don't remember the nursery where they put the order in to, but it was in CA. The cost should be no more than $30 each tree. I now have 'Ricks Red' 'Crimson Tide' 'Pink Ice' 'Red Champagne' and a generic red.

14
This thread inspired me to track down not only Orangeberry and Fortunella Hindsii trees for my own collection. It also inspired me to order Wampee seed (from another source). I wish we had more citrus for our collections, right here in Maricopa or Phoenix Arizona.
I'd really like to give thanks to these kind people (nods to the above mentioned Millet and Matievski) that are such a great resource for information pertaining to the care and propagation of what cultivars we are fortunate enough to obtain.
Cheers! and Happy Holidays!

15
I would very much like to add Fortunella Hindsii, or Clementiny, to my garden.
I can not find them locally; so I hope that someone would sell me seeds.
My garden is just now getting started; so I don't have seeds to offer in exchange yet.
I will remember any kindness, and will gladly trade any seeds from my collection when my garden is productive.

Thank you, to the people who sold me Finger Lime seed.
I now have 10 cultivars; All have germinated, and tiny leaves are now present!

If they don't respond to your claims, and make the situation right, they will be banned from the forum.

They have until the end of the week to correct the issue.

They didn't refund, or send the trees and seeds that I ordered.
I opened a paypal claim.
They talked me into canceling the Paypal claim, saying that they would send the rest of my order if I did so.
That was last month.
They did not keep their word.
The way paypal works, if you cancel a claim you can not open it back up.
These people kept my money, and didn't send my trees and seeds.

I'd like to give my business to honest people.
I don't care how big your business is, or how long you've been around.
I still have 20 Finger lime trees to purchase. I also want to purchase Russell River Lime, Sunrise lime, and Blood lime trees.
If you can insure the trees, and include the required certificate, feel free to contact me.

Thank you

Not to be argumentative; but unfortunately, I had a bad experience with this seller.

They only sent half of my order, and kept the money for the rest.
I ordered over $400 total, in seeds and trees.

I have given them every opportunity to do the right thing, and either send the remainder of my order, or refund me.

There are other issues as well.
They do not have the best customer service, and were very insulting when I reminded them that they had not sent the rest of my order.

I have yet to see if the trees that they sent are true to the variety that they claim to have sold.

I will say that their shipping was superior to any other method I have seen.
They don't actually send you what you pay for, but what you get is in good condition.

Starling,

The only thing that you really need to reproduce from their experiment, for the fruit to produce more Anthocyanins, is the added O2 and the winter temperature. You do not need the 'mountain altitude' kPa to stimulate the fruit to produce more Anthocyanin.

If you want to experiment with your Anthocyanin rich fruits, you can see this happen while your fruit is on your trees by using a large baggie, a few rubber bands, and O2. If you don't already have an O2 tank for welding, you can purchase O2 included with a cheap torch kit.

Use rubber band to seal the open end of the bag onto fruit.
Cut open a hole in the opposite end, and deflate it.
Inflate the bag with O2
Seal the bag with another rubber band.
Watch fruit that is hyper oxygenated respond by creating more Anthocyanins, and compare it to every other fruit on your tree.

It is really this simple.

It's easy. This will be a fun family engineering project, and encourage my kids to eat healthy fruit ;) We can monitor it, and control it via smart phone.

Parts:
Extra large fridge in the garage.
Spare welding O2 tank
Hose and attachment
Pressure gauge
Multi meter (set to temperature gauge)
Wemo and Smartphone (For those who don't code, just use Wemo Smart Phone and IFTTT)
Drill
Pipe sealant
Lock for fridge (to make sure no one accidentally opens it during the process)
Fruit ( Fruit that produces Anthocyanins ((cold temperature when it will naturally produce more of the pigment/antioxidant any way)) so you can stress it with O2 causing a response of the Antioxidant (pigment Anthocyanin) to combat the assault of O2; making healthier fruit (High anti oxidant, and wonderful color)

Parts that you don't already have can be purchased at home depot and harbor freight tools.

Our local Harbor freight and Home Depot know myself and my family by name. For us, we don't just think of something. We build it.
I'll post pics on my twitter, when we have some yummy extra red fruit for my family, and our Butterfly Koi. I may do a DIY, when and if I see that results would be sufficient for the effort. I'm sure that anyone with basic engineering skills could come up with something similar. It was my son that thought of this.

I Thank you Millet
Those conditions are so easy to replicate, at least for my purposes.

21
Thank you for this post.
Do you have a link to the published paper?
I'd like to know if that would be the fruit, or the plant, that is kept at higher O2?
What percent O2?
(kpa is atmospheric pressure, which will change depending on altitude, or artificial pressurization; but how much O2 was fed?)

Sorry for being a pest Millet; but this interests me incredibly.
I can replicate this, and feed the Anthocyanin rich fruit to my family's pet Butterfly Koi. That will be fantastic!

< Thanks Millet :D

I was hoping you could tell me what compounds are in what parts of Finger Lime,
and is it across the board; or do only certain varieties of Finger Lime create those pigments in certain parts of the plant.

I'm fascinated by the potential effect of Finger Lime on my Butterfly Koi:
They go nuts for Finger Lime; Leaves, Peel, and Spheres.
I'm planting Finger Lime as hedge around my property...
I will literally be able to see what pigments are present in Finger Lime by what color my fish become. lol

Anthocyanins (red, that is developed in citrus during colder months) will have an effect on the color of my Butterfly Koi fish:
It makes them a deeper red (blue red, like I want in my Goromo)

Lycopene brightens orange; but also makes white fish appear dingy.
Example:
Blood Orange is great for red koi (it contains Anthocyanins), but Cara cara Orange isn't so great for white Koi (it contains Lycopene)

Finger Lime plant is total brain candy for me right now.
More so for the lack of information (try to google 'Finger Lime Leaves Safe To Eat') lol

(You see why I usually just read the forums, instead of posting... sorry for going on about this)

Would a Finger Lime with Red skin, and Pink Vesicles, contain both Anthocyanin, and Lycopene?

I have a modest collection of Finger Lime Trees.
They have many different colors of skin, and many different colors of yummy round vesicles.
I was curious as to the pigments that create these color variations.

I'm also curious about these tasty little leaves.
I've been cooking with them, like you would cook with a leaf of Kaffir Lime.
Besides being so cute, the finger lime leaves impart a very green flavor, slightly citrus,
with an after note of mint that stays with you for a while.

I know that finger lime skin contains isomenthone, but would anyone know if this is present in the leaves, as well?

Thanks

24
Thank you for pictures of these varieties!
Would you happen to have pictures of what these finger limes look like when they are growing?

I was sent "Crimson Tide" and "Red Champagne" finger limes;
but the young fruit looks just like my "Rainforest Pearl" trees.

I'm very new to growing finger limes.
Do "Crimson Tide" and "Red Champagne" change to deep black and red when they ripen?

I would appreciate any information about when finger limes color up,
and anything that you might know that might change the color.

Thanks
