You're right! Looks similar. Also I found pictures here: www.marriedtoplants.com/flowering-plants/jaboticaba-fruiting-first-time-garden/
That show floral buds on a jaboticaba that eventually fruits. Yours could also bare fruit soon hopefully!!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Myrceugenia growing experiences

Cool! Thanks Sven! Ive also found another source for M. ovata var. nannophylla. rather buy plants/seeds from other forum members but these seem like a good option as well. I'll post the websites In case some one else is interested in these plants. They also carry other Hardy Myrtaceae( Myrteola, Luma and Ugni.)

Brian- good to know it can handle the heat as well! It gets pretty hot here near Dallas and putting up with the heat would also be necessary. How old is your plant? Is it in the ground?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Myrceugenia growing experiences
« on: August 01, 2017, 06:07:53 PM »
I've recently become really interested in the Myrceugenia genus,  not only for their ornamental value but also for the possible edibility of the various fruits of this genus. Various sp. from this genus also seem to be pretty Hardy! Some sp. Appear to be Hardy up to USDA zone 6/7.
Does anyone grow any species from this genus? What's your experience been? How was the fruit quality/taste? Where can I find plants/seeds?
Specifically I'd like to know more about Myrceugenia chrysocarpa and Myrceugenia ovata var. nannophylla( but all info is welcome!).
Myrceugenia chrysocarpa seems to handle ≈ -20°C without flinching.

Makes sense. It looks just like one but in baby form. Do the trees mango sizes vary?

I bought these fruits from a local Vietnamese supermarket. They're tiny!! Sweet and virtually no seed. does anyone know which variety this might be? Attached are pictures of the fruit and seed size, also a toothpick for scale  :P lol

Just received my seeds, thank you so much! And thank you for the extras!!

I hear ya, peat moss and cottonseed meal fertilizer should help. Keep us posted!!
Wish you good vibes and healthy plants ✌️

63
Cottonseed meal based fertilizers have worked well for me. Something like down to earth's acid mix would work great!
Also are you watering with city water? Mixing in peat moss with your potting mix when you up-pot would also be beneficial
