This species of Durio can only be found on Mount Kinabalu in Sabah. The most special thing about it is that it grows up to about 1400 meters or 4500 feet elevation. This feature could make it very desirable for zone pushers, experimenters and collectors either for the fruit or as a rootstock. The fruits are small - max 500 grams - yellow and round similar to a graveolens but have blunter spikes and the remaining parts of the flower are still attached to the ripe fruit. The flesh is white or pale yellow and is similar to, but less intense than lowianus. It has the fruitiness and the cookie-dough feeling while the flesh is thinner in size and thicker in consistency. Like most wild durians it can and should be held for a couple of days before consumption, it will get softer and more intense.
