Looks like NDM mango tree is about to flower
« on: December 14, 2019, 10:23:14 AM »
Last year my NDM only gave me two fruit only flowered in one pinnacle on entire tree. This year seems like it’s going to flower a lot, hoping for a good year!

The way NDM flushes has always amazed me seems so much thicker and robust than other trees.

It will unlikely flower again in the spring and if a cold front reaches down there it could wipe out the immature fruit. It has been a warm year, I have trees flushing, I don’t think this is indicative of a great fruiting season.
Don’t rush, take time and enjoy life and food.

Got flowers popping up all over Coconut Cream down here south of Miami.

...upon inspection, realize that ndm4, glenn, and kasturi all are flowering nicely as well. Not sure, but Kesar might be starting up too.

I just went around and looked, my potted Maha Chanok is blooming. WTH? Doesn't it know the coldest part of the season is still a month and a half away? None of my in grounds are blooming and my potted Rapoza just seems happy to be alive so nothing there. In other weird flowerings I have figs on several trees that should have lost their leaves already for winter and some other trees that give us our FL fall colors haven't even turned yet. Weird winter.

Congrats!  By the way I don't think Mango trees necessarily need the coldest part of the season to bloom (Especially in orlando where it can dip near freezing sometimes). Cold/cool weather is a stimulus but not the only one, dryness, humidity drops as well as other things we may not understand can trigger flowering

Does NDM develop red/blush on fruit? I’ve had this tree for over 6 years and this will be the first time it fruits nicely.

It’s common for young developing NDM fruit to develop some reddish/pink blush. This typically fades as the fruit get closer to mature size.
