Hey Adam,

So Nice, Where is that Trunciflora Located?  Is it yours?  The yellow Jabs look awesome.  I got one that is pretty close to fruiting and am keeping my fingers crossed for this year.  Glad to hear they taste great!

Here is my Yellow Jabo

Thanks for the Pics.

Hey Jacob,

Thanks for the kind comments.

The tree lives in FL, but unfortunately its exact location can't be disclosed, because then you'll tell your friends and they'll tell their friends (and  it will make this trees life a living hell, having to show up at shopping malls, having to sign autographs  ;) ;) ;D ;D).  and of course it isn't mine silly, its in the ground, and I'm root bound for life.

Looks like you could get some fruits in a year or so...but I know they don't set fruit sometimes the first go round of blooming, and looks like you could bloom first time this year...and looks like your tree is 3yrs old..max.

Am I close ? or can you not disclose the age of this plant for security reasons? ;D

Beautiful tree, at least 30 years old from the looks of it...
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Hey Adam,

Not sure of the exact age but it is somewhere between 3-4 years.

Very healthy looking plant Jacob. I also like apricot-like taste of this fruit. Don't like the name yellow jaboticaba. This fruit is nothing like jaboticaba, doesn't look like it, doesn't taste like it, plant also looks totally different than jaboticaba. So i tend to call it cabelluda for lack of a better name. Cabelluda means hairy or fuzzy, which the fruit really is.
OK, the name yellow jaboticaba sells well and is easier to pronounce.

Hey Joseph, looking more closely at your first photo i see an area on far right center that looks like flowers are starting to form. See the area i circled in red from your photo. If it's not flowers what is it?

Those are flowers of E. uniflora.  The M glazioviana flowers are much more discreet when forming, until they turn yellow right before finally bursting.

Hi Adam :),

Awesome pics!!!! That cabeludinha is really ornamental!!! Thanks for sharing!

Do they drop their leaves like the normal Jabs do?

Hello Friends,

Hey Oscar, sorry about the misleading pictures.  The Cabelluda happens to be sitting next to my Surinam Cherry that happens to be flowering profusely and is pushed up against the Cabelluda.  Thanks for the nice compliments.  It has been pretty much of a worry free plant and is really cold-hardy.

JackFruitWhisperer - Thanks for the Nice Compliment.  I will definitely let you all know when and if it flowers.

Felipe - Thanks for the compliments

Adam - You are the Jabo King. Thanks again for sharing your pictures and all the great information.

Beautiful pics of the trunciflora!  What a wild-looking flowering habit.  That Cabelluda looks nice too.

I had a cabelluda that used to flower a lot, but never made fruit.  It eventually died.
I planted a new one with hopes of fruit one day.
Anything special being done to improve fertilization?

I'm guessing, underline guessing, that the problem is similar to juvenille abius that flower and don't fruit. Best thing then would be to graft a piece of mature wood on any part of the plant to release proper hormones. I wonder also if gibberelic acid would work???

How old do the plants usually have to be to set fruit?

Awesome, keep up the good work. It's really mind boggling how many types of jaboticabas there really are and how few people in USA and most other tropical countries know about. To put it in terms that "mangophyles" can understand, it's as if people only knew about Tommy Atkins when there are really 1000+ other better cultivars, yet they think they know what a mango really is and call it bland and not worth growing.
