Hello fruit lovers!

Does anyone have info on mangifera mempalam? I have 2 fruits, which are ripening, and planning on growing out the seeds. Was wondering if anyone has info on this species, fruit, etc. Thanks.

I'm growing a mulberry mound with FL everbearing, Thai dwarf, and red Him just added. Have yet to try RH, but have heard it is much better than the other 2. RH should be a very good choice. So far it is growing well and showing no problems with limestone soil and local climate. It gets lots of watering.

The staff that ride you around on the golf cart tend to be knowledgable.

Always good to grow a few vines, of similar and different varieties. Helps to cross pollinate and looks great having a mix of flowers and fruits.

Need to trim some palms and overgrown plants.

Palms were there when we moved in, but not much else. Added achachairu, seashore mangosteen, Luc's, lemon drop, acai, pineapples, and several cacaos, cupuacus and a mocambo in the back.

Several ornamentals and flowers (purple and red fire spike, Panama Queen aphelandra, almond bush, lions ears, duranta, jasmine humilis) for the butterflies and hummingbirds. A few cool bromeliads, crotons, alocasias, colocasias, ti, etc.

Surprisingly, Thai dwarf berries have been beating FL everbearing over the last week. I like TD when its partly to mostly black, but still has red in it. Good balance of sweet and tart. Seems to be getting better with age, and me knowing when to pick.

Very similar to e. reinwardtiana, that's probably it.

My kid tasted it, said it was not very flavorful, mildly sweet with no sour. Only one was ripe, next one is mine.

P. laurifolia has been fruiting well for me. While I have 2 mature plants, have got fruits with only 1 plant flowering. Not sure if other passiflora have pollinated it, but think it is self fertile when mature. Hand pollination appears to help a lot.

Laurifolia fruits are very nice, flavor is unique. Fragrant, flowery, and sweet, with some complexity. No sourness or muskiness, like with edulis.

Going back and forth between edulis/flavicarpa and laurifolia is a fun endeavor, and they mix well together.
