Fruiting that beautiful Caipirinha hunh! epic

Oh yeah,

Hi John,

How long will it takes to fruit from seed?

Thanks,
Al

Caipirinha is about 8 years from seed.

Hey! Dealing with ants under your trees can be a real pain, especially when they start making their way up to your fruit trees. I had a similar situation with my garden, and I found that sprinkling cinnamon around the base of the trees helped deter them naturally. It's like magic – ants just can't stand the smell!

Those facebook groups are the worst.
Yes there are clowns that have a small collection in their backyard and question everything the commercial people have observed for decades. It's okay to bring things up for discussion but when you make claims on a very small antidotical  sample of evidence. It becomes  a pappy show. Gringo Patois

Well, Mike or anyone else, if you happen to have a few seeds to share, I would love to get a few!
Would be perfect for greenhouse growers.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: marcotting vs rooting question
« Last post by Galatians522 on Today at 09:36:44 AM »
That is a very good answer except for the last point. Any cutting that can be rooted can be air layered. But not necessarily the other way around.
We commercially layer rambutan, for example. We must get 90% or better. We’d never get that with cuttings if any at all.
Peter

I say that because of Macadamia. I have air layered lychee on a commercial level. When we tried macadamia on a small scale we got callus formation but no roots until we cut them off and treated them like cuttings. Was it a fluke??? I don't know. Also, Atemoya can be rooted from cuttings according to Australian literature. I have never gotten it to air layer successfully because it has weak wood and the layers have always gotten snapped off by wind. In theory it works, but in practice its not practical. That is why I add the caveat.

Thanks Nate, if it makes any difference I was working with integrifolia. I wonder if tetrafolia and its hybrids are easier to layer. Maybe I should try again.

It was cut early, but you can make it work. I would cut it back to the second pair of leaflets and then trim those so that it only has 4 leaves on the whole tree. Bag it and mist the leaves several times a day (if possible) to prevent desication.

Up potted my seedling plant. Currently flushing new growth

Nick, your seedling looks very healthy, will you be putting it into the ground eventually?

Thanks Ben, yes I’m definitely super stoked!

Jeramy, I’d agree it’s probably time to put that male on there. If you graft it soon, hopefully it will produce pollen for you next year.

Is this a dwarf tree? I have a Cochin (dwarf) from Lara Farms that's supposed to have smaller fruits as well.

Is it's dwarf tree. I ordered one from nursery in Java, might have seeds in future. Here is description from nursery website:

" As the name suggests, the size of the fruit of the minii jackfruit tree is not too big,
The size of the fruit is medium, but not too small either. It tastes sweet and delicious.
Due to its small size, mini jackfruit is very suitable for small spaces and still bears fruit diligently even when planted in a pot.
Caring for mini jackfruit tabulampot is also not difficult. Only with regular fertilization with manure/organic fertilizer, the Mini Jackfruit will still bear fruit diligently"

Thanks for sharing that very informative video, I'm a nooby grower so info like this from someone in the know helps out big time! I did what he suggested in planting a resistant variety of mango tree, I read Pickering was somewhat resistant, but I think I read that here on this forum about Pickering so I planted one as my first mango tree.
