Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Rootstock for atemoya

Atemoya rootsrocks works just as well as cherimoya for me. Seedlings of atemoyas are also vigorous. Especially african pride and geffner

These giant yellow df are so good. how long does it take to fruit from seeds? I bought two fruits and planted some seeds.

I have Frankie's red grafted onto undulatus. the plant grew about five feet since it was grafted earlier this year. Not sure if this is a good growth rate.

55
1-2 years until it has enough body mass to bear fruit.

56
Frankies red is also very good. It has a very refreshing grassy aroma. Especially when chilled.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Unusual fruiting of Papaya
« on: December 04, 2017, 07:21:34 PM »
I've seen people drive a long rusty nail on the bottom of the trunk of a male papaya and this will stress them into changing sex and produce fruit a month or two later.

58
I tried one of the asuntas but don't remember the number. It was very good for me even though the fruit was a runt and slightly under ripe. Its white flesh with coconut overtones. Very unique trait that I have never tried in dragon fruit.

59
I saw some online postings on face book where the thick flesh is red, crispy, and the rag is red and completely edible. I would like to know if there are any officially named cultivars that have these traits

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Guava season in Socal

Dolores is a sweet & tart guava they've topped at 18 brix that on the high side for a guava. I prefer Jalisco rojo as a dessert guava but Dolores is a superb guava for guava shell. I will offer scions and cutting in March during my annona scion sale. I believe Dolores is the only Red seedless guava around if anyone can find others please post

I think Robert has a red seedless Taiwanese variety. This is a small grafted tree that hasn't fruited yet.

64
Any so cal members bough seeds from this vendor? I would like a seedling or two if anyone from so cal bought seeds.

65
I received the regular mail  envelope today.  I opened it up and was disappointed that the plastic bag contains 0 seeds.
The mail does not appear to be opened by anyone yet other than me.

LOLOL

same thing happened to my friend who bought from luke

66
But how does it taste??

67
My order hasnt arrived. Too soon. Maybe Tuesday.

68
Maybe the red shell is just for looks...

69
Can you describe the flavor profile? How does it taste compared to the traditional Chinese longans?

70
a nice 'isan indigo' fruit and half cut section showing 'meatiness' and low seed counts.

I like how it's still holding it's form and not just sugary muck

71
My parfiankas are pink right now. I hope they're not fakes or mislabeled palnts.

Does the fruit start out as pink colored and gradually turn blood red like yours?

72
Just an idea, but would be interesting to breed this with a Lisa or Noel's big red... maybe get some really interesting red offspring.

Or cross it with one of the jumbo size moyas... jumbo geffner, jumbo ap, pink's mammoth, etc.

74
I also want seeds plzz
