Gigantic citrus leaf - Basil shape
« on: September 19, 2020, 10:37:42 AM »
Has anyone seen anything like this before? I'm confident it's not coming from the rootstock and it's happening in one branch. The leaf is gigantic when compared to the regular ones.

My experience is that when citrus are small or unhealthy they will make undersized leaves, but once they have settled into optimal health they will produce “normal” size leaves which might be far larger than the leaves produced up to that point.  And if they remain healthy, all future leaves will be this larger size.

What kind of citrus is this?  Some have very large leaves

That is quite a difference in size. Leaves of young plants and healthy plants in dappled light can often be quite large but this is unusual. I am not sure you indicated what citrus it is so we can think about how big the leaves can be.

Yes, I get it on lemons mostly, but oranges as well. No big deal.

Yes, I see large leaves on my citrus. As mentioned, when the tree is healthy or have rapid growth branch the leaves seem to get much larger than the leaves on the other branches. Here's my 9lb lemon leaf which is pretty large, also my seedling pomelo tree has leaves almost as large as this one.

Over size leaves is not a all that rare phenomena.   One of the citrus tree cultivars having the largest leaves in all of citrus is the Saint Teressa lemon.

I concur with Millet. My St Teresa lemon has huge leaves.
