Spring fruit updates
« on: May 05, 2016, 09:00:16 AM »
My yard is so sketchy this year in bloom and fruit set I'm wondering if anyone else is in the same boat.

Mulberry, lemon guava, sugar apple, julie seeding and madame Francis mango, lemon drop mangosteen, muscadine grapes, persimmon, loquat, pineapple, banana, canistel, and sapodills are all above or at normal.

Jackfruit, pink guava, geffner atemoya, lychee, glenn mango, peach,  jaboticaba, and carambola all have either non-existant or near zero bloom and fruit set.
Regards,

   Gary

Yeah, the lychee trees (at least in my area) are kinda sketchy this year. Some look good, others not so much. Still better than a couple/few years ago. Safe to say we won't be seeing as good a season as the previous though. Canistels look good, Saps look good, mangoes could be better (previous season was great) but still will have a decent mango season.  Would love to see a photo of your lemon drop garcinia in action. All the best

I'm getting decent fruit set on my Gefner and Dream atemoya. My sugar apple is only just now throwing flowers. I had a decent fruit set on my Mauritius lychee, but a lot of fruit drop after some windy days lately. Florida Glo peach has a bunch of fruit on it this year, UF Sun had a bunch but it either dropped or got picked off by a squirrel. Mallika mango is holding a decent amount, but only half of it bloomed.

DW, The LDM has been in semi shade until this winter and previously fruit set was small. This year I will have 30-40 fruits. They are in nice clusters.

It's ~6' tall now and has been in ground since 2012.
