Temperate Fruit Buy, Sell, & Trade / Re: WTB or trade for Mesquite seeds
« on: September 06, 2017, 04:12:54 PM »

Many seeds here as well. Not sure though if it is reasonable. I think I saw somewhere that mesquite is a badly invasive species in some countries... Is it really reasonable to introduce it to your place...?

Here, for sure they would not be invasive...they will be vanished by first winter:) do you have the velvet mesquite seeds?

Alexandre, it is I as you said so the place of origin give the name, but the coloration is in game as well:)
And really not sure if it is just variety of phitranha or hybrid, I was only said that it could be or possibly it is a hybrid of p. phitrantha and p. aureana.

Hi,

According to information from those who collected this variety of Jaboticaba sapucaia, Sapucaia name is given by the place of collection of the species, the city of Sapucaia in the State of Rio de Janeiro, and for having leaves similar to the Sapucaia most common of the State of Rio de Janeiro Lecythis Pisonis.

I have Jaboticaba Sapucaia in production, and the fruit is sweet and with very small seeds, very red bud, a beautiful tree.

Believed it was a Plinia Phitranta type

John - it is as I was said a probable hybrid of p. aureana x p. phitrantha, the fruit should be in top tasties jabos, very sweet.

You can check the FB https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1441313169471381&set=a.1441280299474668.1073741827.100007781359228&type=3

it have the name derivated from Lecythis sp. due to the new red foliage.

Also tried seeds from I think 3 sources never have luck. so was curious if there is anyone who germinate it or have the plant growing...

Should i keep or remove? I am asking as read somewhere these do not like pruning and so do not want stunned it.

64
Roy, any update on availability? Thanks

65
Looks promising never heard about it. And maybe later grafting on some more cold hardy local prunus species would increase the hardiness.

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Re: What kind of Prunus is this?
« on: August 08, 2016, 04:27:21 AM »
I think this could be as well Prunus domestica syriaca - mirabelle plum, which is commonly confused with Prunus cerasifera

71
Do the seeds come true to colour? Or do they revert to blue?

I am not sure, never try to  grow them from seed. They are propagated mainly by cuttings/suckers I think, here is the picture of fruit (not ripe yet).
