Imagine if he were choosing for eye appeal and storage life instead of flavor, i.e., from a commercial perspective.  Most of these new varieties would be eliminated.  So it's even more amazing that he, a wholesale nursery owner, would undertake such a project.  Just for the love of mangos!

Yea, love is a truly strange thing, tops reason.  I believe we have forum members growing mango outdoors in GA.

The Phoenix is a great mango as I got my first and only fruit from my tree

Sweet and sour like a sweet tart only smoother which allowed other goodness to come through

A top ten mango imo

I believe the comment about 6-foot spacing is approximately correct, and some, may have been even closer, per what I saw.

That land also has lychees, longans, carambolas, etc., and many very large old-variety mango trees.
