Great adam. One of my big Jim graft failed, right time to obtain scions. Which variety produces big fruits? Thank u.

I will have to post some pics of Tori and Aiden soon..the fruits get huge on these....I think Aiden is the larger of the two...it makes huge fruits without thinning.

I'm pleased to announce that Flying Fox Fruits will be at the Manatee Rare Fruit Council Plant Sale, May 18,  2014 (10am-4pm).

Here is the website with all of the details.
http://www.mrfc.org/PlantSale.aspx

I'm going to bring some of the rare stuff that I've been saving for this sale!  There should be a decent selection of Annonas, Garcinias, Eugenias, Pouterias and Myrciarias!

Great Adam. Look forward to meeting you.

Does anyone know if loquats require chill hours?  I know we can fruit them in south florida, but I am wondering if the central florida cultivars would do well here, or if, like peaches, there are different cultivars for each region because of the difference in chill.  Thanks.

I wonder if the Big Jim cultivar would do well in Florida.  I have read about it on the web but the references to it seem to be in other parts of the country.

I have a small amount of yellow grumichama seeds for $4.50 (pack of three seeds) or buy 10 or more get them for $1 each.

domestic shipping via USPS priority for $5.50, or first class for $3 (email for international shipping rates)

these seeds are from the most delicious grumixamas I've ever tasted...I believe they are a superior strain, and will likely produce seedlings that are similar (in terms of fruit quality) but I can't guarantee they will be yellow fruited....so some could turn out purple.

actually I need to read up on loquats...I think they will do well, but certain varieties will be better than others.

had to change my answer...I think u can grow them...but they do seem to appreciate less humidity and a bit of chill....in my experience the trees are very rugged...and can defintely fruit in most of south FL.

oh ya I just remembered they were fruiting heavily at fruit and spice...so I think they'll do just fine

Brad they even had a big jim

yes I have just a few left...I will be running out soon...it can fruit in pot...but I believe its a large tree...eventually exceeding 25ft in height....so it will be a challenge for most growers to keep it in a pot for over  a decade...i have one about 6-7yrs old...still hasn't fruited, and its about 4ft tall, in a 25 gal pot.....I will keep it in this pot for at least another 2 yrs...hopefully until it fruits...I'm hoping for flowers in the next year or so!!

here is a recent pic.

Garcinia acuminata seeds just made it in today!  I have a limited amount available now!

This tree is almost everbearing in south FL, as reported in Bill Whitman's book "Five decades" (who I think introduced this species into USA), and the fruits are also reported to be delicious, acid sweet..(like lemony cotton candy, so I've heard)  This fruit is often confused with G. madruno, which is an entirely different species.

here is a translated link to a website that has some info on this species.

http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=pt&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fe-jardim.com%2Fproduto_completo.asp%3FIDProduto%3D6&edit-text=&act=url

they cost $3 each, with a minimum order of 4 seeds.

please email me to place orders.

haha didn't realize it would be true to size... ooo boy.

Its a commercial mix from Lowes -  STA GREEN.  I typically add perlite and a few other things to lighten up commercial mixes, but this ones base ingredients are pretty good to begin with.
