now I have some Eugenia pyriformis (acid type) Uvalha seeds for $1 each (minimum order of 4 seed)

the tree is very easy to grow, not having a problem with die back like E. stipitata.  The fruit is much like E. stipitata, except the fragrance and flavor is a bit different (seeds are also more numerous in Uvalha) the taste of this fruit reminds me of G. hombroniana, having something of a banana after taste, but very sour.

Definitely too sour for most to enjoy out of hand, but should be great with some sugar, the flavor is powerful and tropical.

this fruit came off of small tree I have, less than 4 ft tall, in a 7gal pot.  This plant is also tolerant of freezes, not sure how much cold it can take, I'm guessing the kill temp is around 25-27F, but could be higher or lower.

Nice to know they are cold hardy, my is a sweet variety & I am breeding for dwarf. Will be re poting in aero pot to speedup fruiting than.  Great for the data on this new plant I have recent add to my collection.  Manage to kill 12 of mine, learn they dont like standing water and drought test I give to my annona & jack.  I wont give an ant scale test anytime soon, find the sweet variety is hard to find. Good to know no need to throw it in a walk in feezer for 15 minutes freeze my ass trial! :-[ :blank: ;D

sorry I sold out of G aristata quickly.

it's best to email me directly, the messages on the forum sometimes get overlooked by accident.

Hi Adam !  The green sapote tree is doing fine. I worry about it because I've never had a tree that large in a pot before. Its a treasure.

Val,

I'm glad u got that 25g tree!  It may be years before I will have another one that size for sale.  I originally got that tree from cookiemonster (Jeff), and it was in a 3 gallon pot, about 2.5 ft tall....I think that was back in 2011?

I kept one for myself....I bought 2 from cookiemonster actually.....the variety was Whitman....both trees have flowered nicely this, but hadn't set fruits yet....I'm thinking they will fruit in the next 2-3 yrs.

I forgot to ask if you were keeping the tree in a pot? or planting in the ground???

Val,
I've got your tree's twin, and here is what I plan to do...

Keep it in the same 25 gal pot for about 1 more year...Hoping to get a good bloom early winter, and maybe some fruit set...

If i can get fruit set, once they get to a decent size, I will step it up into a 45 gal...where I hope it will sit for at least another 1.5yr.

after the 45 gal, it will be time for me to sell, or plant this tree..i don't feel like having another 100 gal plant to deal with!

Hey, how you doing man.

You still have any of those bunchosia armeniaca seeds left, also do you have any san pablo custard apple seeds.

My jamiacan cherry seedlings are still growing good but its taking really long so I was wondering if you have any grafted Mutingia Calabura or if you know of a place I can get one.

Thanks man, hope everything is going and growing good.
