Is Florida Hill Nursery Hill Legit?
« on: September 02, 2017, 09:39:43 AM »
Folks,

Is Florida Hill Nursery legit? I am planning to buy some hua moa plantains and Muscadine grapes to plant at my dad's place. Thanks!

How ironic, I had just ordered from Florida Hill for my first time and happened to order a hua moa myself. It was just delivered 20 minutes ago and was a very sad looking banana tree for the price I paid. Looked to be neglected with a pencil thin pseudostem and one leaf. I will not order from this nursery again.

Palm city's response made me feel iffy. I ended up buying one hua moa banana from Aloha Nursery.

I just received my order of some very fragle plants from Florida Hill Nursery, and I can't be more pleased!
They came across the entire continent, then across a body of water which is equal to the same distance, and they look fresh and well cared for at the time they were packed, and it shows.
I can certainly tell that this company has employees who care about what they do and how the plants look when they arrive. There have been times when mail-order companies don't care for their plants even before they get into the shipping containers, and it shows. Florida Hill really takes care, and I've been a returning customer for many years, and this is what I always get. Even though it shipped 5,000 miles. (SEE PHOTO ATTACHED),

Of all of the mail order companies out there, I certainly would rate the Speed, The Freshness/Health, and the Quality of the plants to be top-notch. It doesn't hurt that Spring Hill is also affordable, which allows me to get a few more plants while I'm at it.
I give Florida Hill a strong "A" for my overall experience, and that doesn't happen too often with all these new companies popping up. :)

I have ordered bananas from them several times. They have the worst communication for an online store I have ever dealt with. Unreachable by email or their messaging system. That said, no problem with orders I have made except you never know when its going to arrive. Everything was packed well and has grown no problem.

The plants are ok and price is cheap but I hear he will send you wrong banana plants.  Ive got 8 or so banana plants from them Im growing out to see if they are what they should be.  So far everything looking ok.  Dwarfs are dwarfing, reds are redding etc...

I think this is the place Charles Malki from IV Organics uses.
I've heard of people having mixed reviews but ultimately always getting their plants.

I order from them once. I will never order from them again.

1. they do not reply to your emails.
2. they take forever to ship
3. I order 4 small seedlings (1 everberrying mulberry, 2 passion fruit, and 1 drawf payapa).  The papaya, the top was all dried, and dead.  There was no way it will recover with the top gone.  Since they do not reply to emails. I just took it as a lost.

One good thing is that the mulberry and passion fruit were about 6" long, are thriving and giant.

Three years on, can you confirm the varieties you got were accurate to what was purchased?

Looking to buy some bananas from them, but I've heard both good and bad, and this thread seems to confirm that.

I bought a bunch of blueberries and blackberry plants from them last year and the year before. All came in good condition and fast.

FHN has repeatedly sent out plants that aren't true to cultivar. I've suckered twice. Others report the same. I think they buy what's cheap and send it to everyone.

That's my biggest concern.

Anyone have recommendations for other vendors with true-to-listing varieties that ship and don't break the bank?

I'm in search of varieties that are more heat and cold tolerant, with wind resistance and high quality, unique fruit being a big bonus.

Ordered a “Morus Nigra” and got a clearly identifiable Morus Alba. The plant was healthy but I was pissed lol
