Title: Drones that plant seeds
Post by: SeaWalnut on June 19, 2020, 04:16:52 AM
Found this video of an open source program to help people across the globe to build cheap and efficient drones to plant seeds and fight deforestation.
I like this project and altough initially i wanted to build a drone just to chase goats from my orchard, now im thinking to build a bigger one ( not too big thogh, half the size of the one from the video) and use it for seed planting also.
Now when all the drone regulations started i can still find cheap parts to build it.
Due to the regulations they became illegal to fly and, cheap prices of the drones are a result of this .

They made it and the open source is available for everybody now for free.
I think the drone is made to cost less than 200 euro.
To make the seed releasing mechanism you would need 3 D printing thogh.

My son made a 3d printer that prints its own parts to make another one of it.
Pretty cool!

Im not good at programing and drawing on computer but im skilled at building myself and the seed releasing mechanism il make it from steel or glued plastic or carbon fiber.
Will probably need more releasing mechanisms for smaller seeds, intermediate size seeds and bigger seeds.

Even with the flight controller,il not mess around to buy one that needs complicated programming and tunning.
Instead il but the plug and play and safest to fly, NAZA  flight controller with gps just like all the Dji drones have,(even their 20 000 dollars agricultural drone uses it).

Just ordered an used Phantom quadcopter .
Found it at a really good price,75 dollars and it also has a 4k action camera similar to Gopro plus 2 batteryes but both are completely discharged even thogh one its brand new.
This is just to start training .

This is the same drone that terorists used in Syria with atached small explosives ,like grenades , until  DJI banned these drones from using GPS in Syria.
Its a nice company and an interesting fact.
