I was just in Argentina a few weeks ago and they had canned "coquito de San Juan", I thought it was the little Chilean wine palm coconuts that they sell in places. I wish I would have known I would have brought some back to the states

Here’s the photo of one of my four guaya trees. It’s almost 2m. Note the new foliage comes out orange/pink.
I have eaten the fruit in central Veracruz state and though similar to mamoncillo it is superior, sweeter. Peter
Looks like is the same variety I have, yes they are different from quenepa, the leaves are different, the skin is opaque instead of quenepas bright one, the Guayas have less or none astringency like quenepas, and all trees I have seen are mono, however someone told me that can rarely be dioecious ocassinally,
Peter my wife is from North Veracruz (Tuxpan) and the Guayas there are small size like a longan, mine comes from south, in Tabasco and they are bigger as a round lychee...

Hola Raul,
The trees really look different for sure.  I have four planted as I don’t want to rely on them not being dioecious. Hopefully they all produce.  My seeds came from Gutierrez Zamora, well to the south of Tuxpan but not near Tabasco at all.
Production was in June.
Saludos,
Peter

Looks like a hot commodity. I will definitely be on the lookout for your seeds. I even made an obsessive compulsive note on my computer a while back listing the season. hahahahaha Keep up the fruit hunting Raul!

Mine is doing good, kept it under a shade cloth for about 2 years to protect it from the summer heat. I removed the shade about one month ago, hopefully i will see better growth.

Unfortunately I only have one seedling in ground.

i will post a picture of Raul's Mamoncillo, tomorrow. My tree is about 1.2 or 1.4m.

Here is mine, Barbados cherry behind. Growing fast these days, seems to love heavy mulching, water and chicken manure!
