Kahaluu and Malama sound like Hawaiian names.  Bear in mind that trees that grow well in Hawaii might not do as well in South Florida.  For instance, it might not set much fruit in South Florida.

One of our members, Oscar, is located in Hawaii.  If these are Hawaiian varieties, Oscar may be able to locate them.  His website is:

I'm experimenting with both. It will be 3 years before we can see if these two are worth the effort in South FLorida. Malama grows very slow in Fl. Kahaluu seems to like it. I don't know anyone who has an adult tree of those two varieties.  The Nishikawa you will like. The  two yamagatas I have don't seem to like it here so far.

My kahaluu is growing very well here in the west coast.  So far, so good!  I hope this variety will do as well as nishikawa. It seems kahaluu has a very spreading growing habit.
Carlos is yours showing a spread growing pattern?

here is a definitely source for trees... Kahalu'u is pretty good avo... I guess as good as any other good avo... thick, high oil content, soft creamy, rich flavor, somewhat nutty... The chefs rated it the best in Hawaii, but all the Kahalu'u's ive tried were not the best ive had.

I personally liked the Leahi from frankies. lousy yield on meat but so oil and creamy!
