This Reed seed germinated in the fruit.  I decided to have a little fun with some of my wife's nail polish.  Looks like fingers coming out of the ground.  ;D

Been eating Reeds since June. 19 mos. of hang time and still picking.





Had a very nice visit from a great San Diego grower/member and friends, Shane Atwell.  We're standing in front of Reed, Sharwil/Lamb on the left, GEM in the center, Ardith in the back.  Pineapple Pleasure, Orange Sherbet and Juicy Peach cocktail tree on the right.

I have over 30-  1/2 wine barrels in both synthetic materials and wood in which I grow citrus, avocado's, dwarf peaches, nectarines and blueberries in my yard.

I have the same problem with my Don Gillogly I bought couple weeks ago.  The two lower branches are as big as the main trunk but can't bear to cut it.  So I stake them hoping that they can grow upward instead of growing outward.

Typically large trees at nursery are put in these trapezoid box 24" or 36" wide at the top and smaller at the bottom?  Does anyone know why these type of box are  used?   Does it help with the root of the tree?

I had the Hass & Sharwil from your tree. The late season Hass is good but the Sharwil is on another level.  Just my 2 cents.

I noticed recently the branch at the top of the canopy on moro orange started to die off.  This is after a foliage growth at the bottom and middle of the tree.  Anyone has any idea?

So I did some t-budding onto a carrizo exactly 3 weeks ago.   I remove the grafting tape this morning.  I'm not sure the t-bud take or not.  Can anyone take a look at let me know which one takes?

Same here on my alano sapodilla.  I got it may of 2019.  Haven't shown any sign of growth yet.  The owner of Champa where I got it from said it was an airlayered tree.

I would use high density planting concept and plant all three.  They may produce less in the future if you plant them close together but you have 3 different varieties year round.  If you want to pick one to plant in a container, according to the link below, "holiday can be grown in container".

Still waiting to try a Sharwil from Brad's tree.  I got one last saturday. 

Has anyone try a Gillogly avocado yet?  Gary Matsuoka from Laguna Hills Nursery said it's the best avocado he has so far.

I just started grafting.  I'm looking forward to grafting avocado soon.   I have a couple seedling trees that are about 1/4 to 1/2 in trunk diameter.  Has anyone try to t-bud with avocado and has success?

Yesterday I received the scion from CCCP.  I ordered Xie Shan, USDA 88-2, and Boukhobza.  I used mostly T-bud on my Carizzo rootstock in a pot.  Very easy to lift the bark this time of the year.   I did a couple of cleft grafts but the budwood is too small so I don't think they will take.  So after budding and wrapped with buddy tape, do I need to cover the graft union with alumninum foil and keep it under shade?

Millet..for foliar feed using Peters 25-5-15, I lurked through your previous post and I think you said foliar feed is 10% of recommended rate so that translate to 0.1 teaspoon per gallon?  Have a blessed first Sunday of Lent.

I'm having the same problem.  I think it has something to do with overwatering and I didn't feed it very much last year.
