Fruit thievery is a big problem. Before I started growing my own fruit, I'd never have suspected that it was so. Even trees in the backyard will get raided, unless it's enclosed by a good fence.

one word for unsuspecting thieves eyeing my backyard fruit: hostile vegetation. my fence is lined with it

Yup, he gave it back to me right away. As soon as I pulled up I told him to give me back the fruit and after he handed it to me that's when he claimed he picked it up off the ground.
