Cold Hardy Citrus / Poncirus Seedlings
« on: May 17, 2018, 03:51:54 PM »
These are Poncirus seedlings from Georgia. The young leaves look different from other seedlings I have. The leave tips are very pointed when young but get rounder when older. Other seedlings I have (mostly from Europe) have also round tips when still young.

I wonder if there is a best time for pollination on Citrus. I noticed that stigma isn`t always sticky over the day but I haven`t observed it to precisely to make a decision. Does it depend on day time or the age of the flower?

Citrus General Discussion / Hybrid Seedling Cotyledons
« on: February 15, 2018, 12:40:15 PM »
This winter I grow many different hybrid seedlings. I observe that Poncirus seedlings have their cotyledons not paired like in Citrus. The 2nd cotyledon is always  higher than the first one. Citrus and Microcitrus have them very close to each other in pairs.
Citrus x Poncirus seedlings are mixed. Some are paired but the most are like Poncirus.
Does someone observed the same?
I wonder if this trait is suitable to find more Citrus like hybrids among seedlings. For now it is impossible to tell if it is connected to poncirin free fruits but would be interesting to find out.

Citrus General Discussion / What can it be?

What kind of disease could this be? They wilt from top to bottom but roots mostly survive. After some time some sprout again from roots.

Cold Hardy Citrus / Phelps Citrange
« on: July 03, 2017, 02:59:58 PM »
Anyone have seen a Phelps Citrange by himself? It is sometimes mentioned together with Sanford Citrange. Phelps Citrange produces mostly zygotic seeds as Sanford. I could not find any first hand information about it.
Thank you!

around winter 2015/16 I applied Paclobutrazol on many of my plants. Also on some seedlings.
Now I found a 2 year old seedling of a Ichang papeda with a small flower on top. It is only one seedling among many others and I am not sure if it is because of the treatment. Future will show if this plant is already mature or not. Maybe it only happens once like with some grapefruits.
Here is a picture sorry for the bad quality

here you can see how Paclo works. Seedlings grow very bushy.

Cold Hardy Citrus / hybrids with precocious Poncirus
« on: May 25, 2017, 02:18:38 PM »
Did anybody use precocious Poncirus for  creating hybrids?
I try to cultivate it since some years but it is very sensitive for me. So I haven`t seen a flower yet.
I am interested if some offspring is showing the precocious trait.

Thanks!
