Hello,
I have a sweet Utah and another  unknown variety in So Cal.  They had never flower before, so I was wondering when is the blooming season?  They’re both about 3 yrs old in ground and started to flush now..  Thanks

Thank you for all the informations!!!  I looked up somewhere and it mentioned that lychee needs daytime high to be lower than 68F for blooming so I was a bit worry.  The avg low at night lately has been about 55 for me, hopefully that works.  My tree is very young only about 4ft, I was just hoping for a few fruit so I can  figure out what variety it is.  If not then a good growing season might be even Better!!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Lychee in So Cal 2018

This winter is very dry and warm for us, temp rarely below 70F.  I guess there is not much chance for lychee to bloom and fruit this year?  Is there anything that can help lychee to bloom when it’s too warm?  Let’s hear from other folks with lychee!!  Thanks :)

Thanks!!!  I read up on the Coorg Honey Dew, if this is what it is, all the seedlings will be hermaphrodite!!!  That's awesome, I can keep on having this fine papaya for a long time.

My little lychee (unknown variety) is about 2.5 ft tall and 2.5 ft wide, has been in the ground for over 1 year.  It has been flushing every 2-3 months all year long, and right now it's flushing really nicely.  Is there anything i can do to help it flush about end of Jan, when it's probably coldest in SoCal (avg around 60F in day time) ?  Otherwise, i wont get any flower.  I guess that's ok too sine its a young tree and it needs to grow.

Thanks

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Black spots on young lychee leaves

Hi, I just noticed several healthy leaves with small black spots, mostly on the edge.  The tree is growing ok, has some flushes but growing rather slowly.  Any idea??

I put this tree down about 1 year ago, and it seems to start doing better with some new flushes.  I stripped down most of the fruit to help the tree, but I left a few just to try out, but they all dropped later on ;(.  Anyways, I have no clue what kind of lychee this is, hopefully you guys can help me out.  Thanks

Thanks everyone!  I stripped off the fruits already and will head to home depot this weekend. Should I prune the remaining old panicle?  or it will fall off on it's own?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Lychee tree looking bad?
« on: May 21, 2017, 01:08:00 PM »
Hi all,

This my my first lychee tree, i don't even know the variety ;(  It's been in the ground since last fall, and didn't really grow much.  The leaves were beat up from the wind last year.  It has a few fruits, but i don't see any new leaves and that worries me.  I use Kellogg fruits tree fertilizer every 2 months and water it about once every 3-5 days depends on the heat.  Any feed back would be great, i'm really new with these fruit trees and pretty clueless!

Thanks
