Duguetia lepidota
Annona neosalicifolia
Annona rugulosa
Annona tomentosa
Annona ubatubensis
Annona hystricoides
Annona ekmanii
Annona manabiensis

I'm happy you found these seeds!

the only source I could find for them was charging about $12 per seed!

You have met a wonderful person in Brazil, i just know it  ;D

good luck with your growing efforts!!  I hope you can eventually fruit this species.

Salzmanii is a rare fruit.
I believe that I know about who you´re talking about, and I think the same about him.

Thanks Adam,

I hope I will get seedlings first!

despite the fresh seeds, unfortunately A. salzmannii has one of the lowest germination rate of all annonaceae....

..but it worth to try!!!! ;)

I was worried they would be difficult to germinate like illama, needing to be soaked with gibberellic acid...

but it turns out, they are popping up like typical Annona seeds, no trouble at all, no treatment needed...planted them 5/10/15 (approx)

Thank you Micah!

With some luck these might be ready to ship by late summer....I would love to see some go to Hawaii.

I think you have a real shot at fruiting this species, and my attempts to fruit them in a pot may be a pipe dream.

The tree grows very tall, very fast!  Ive had to prune my grafted trees several times this year already.  I bet they'd be 10-12ft by now, but I've kept them at 5-6ft. (5-10 gal pot, one on montana, the other on glabra)

I also sprouted some A. salzmannii ten days ago. Some of them began to straighten:

I have a lack of humidity in the greenhouse. Because of this, the seeds dry up and difficult to shed the shell. And cothyledone leaves appears very small. Will hope on good true leaves.

Hello Andrew,
You can try to grow Cherimoya that tolerate dry hot air.

Hi Alex, I checked today to the three pots I planted with Annona salzmannii, and I found out a very high rate of germination. All seeds planted in two different ground: one reflecting the beachy ground with sand and organics. The other one with organics and pumice. Both with good results. I'm start thinking to have the best rate, it matters not only the medium but also the quantity of seeds you put inside the pot. It seems they "communicate" chemically when they are together improving the germination rate...

By the way: no greenhouse has been used! Only full sun for heating during the day.

when popoed out I will post some photos.

Cheers,

Giampaolo

Very nice to know that Annona salzmannii sprout easily. I'm going to plant some seeds tomorrow.
