Rain = Washed Out Mango Flavor?

Pickering's still in the 12s. Julie in the 22's. First Dot's of the season and they're registering in the 22s. Orange/ deep orange flesh with a nice mild chalkiness to them. One of my favorite mangoes. Tog Bi Cons are maturing up and I'm anxious (and hopefull) that they are not washed out but great as I remember em 2 yrs ago.

Would using one of the Mangifera species naturally found in swamps such as M. casturi as a rootstock help prevent washing out of flavor for trees planted in swampy/waterlogged soils?

All the mangos have been great  so far with the exception of Bailey's Marvel, which for some reason,  tastes less sweet this year.
What  I have noticed, is that on some of the trees , notably LZ and Bailey's, the fruit just sort if hangs on for weeks ,without ripening or further growth. 
Dupuis Saigon has been outstanding and the fruit have been large.
Harvest Moon has a very small and meager crop, which I haven't tasted yet.

There is somewhat of limit in terms of how low brix can be for a mango to still taste pleasant. For me, that tends to be around 15 - 16. Any less than that, and despite whatever other flavor character the fruit has, it is insipid and gets tossed. A brix value of 12 is compost fodder.

Pickering seems to have issues with double personality. The early crop is bland. The latter crop is full and rich.

Julies are improving. Brix in the 19s. Pickering in the 12s. Makok sapodilla 22.5 .

Either Pickering was totally washed out or not ripe enough.

I really wish people would stop judging fruit on brix.  It truly is not a measurement of a fruit's quality or taste (it can even be deceiving as to sweetness depending upon the acidity level).

The mangoes did start to sweeten up as we ended the month of June. But this year's mangoes weren't quite as good as in years past. The last bloom was really late. I can't wait til we get back to our normal winter routine where mangos bloom from Nov to Jan.

What is Brix??

It is something members of this forum have become obsessed with.   Instead of worrying about the taste and quality of the fruit, they have become more obsessed with a brix reading to determine its quality.

Oh, wait, you asked what it is...G-O-O-G-L-E is a wonderful thing...
